It’s because surgery is often a last resort and not always necessary. Maybe he’s just handling his injuries unprofessionally? He did admit to hiding his physical status earlier this season so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the medical team is surprised with how Cam has handled rehab. Cam is a different cat. Then again, the way our medical staff has handled rehab/recovery processes in the past is questionable at very best.

I just hope that Cam will listen to the specialist and do what is best for his future. If that means surgery and IR, so be it.

I'm like you. I don't know everything that's going on behind the scenes, just what I read.

There is one thing that I will admit struck me as a little odd, though. Specifically, it was that Hurney and Rivera's statements about Newton "doing everything he could" sounded eerily similar, almost as if they've been written as a talking point.

Mind you, that wouldn't be a terribly unusual thing for an image conscious football team to do. It just struck me sort of odd.

But to quote Sergeants Riggs and Murtaugh, it's probably nothing.

A scenario like you're describing puts you at risk of winding up with a Trent Williams type situation.

Kyle Bailey said something this week expressing a belief that the team was doing some things to cover their asses because of how things played out in Washington. I thought he was full of sh-t with that idea.

Who knows? Maybe he isn't.

I saw this compared to a situation surrounding another basketball name also but I forget who. Gerald Henderson maybe, but I could be wrong.

I have a pretty strong opinion as to what is going on, but I still don’t have all the facts. I’ve learned to be careful not to roll an opinion out there if I can’t back it up without a source I trust. I don’t have a source on this. I just have a well formulated opinion, based on a lot of context clues. Guys that work in the opinion business, they have to do that. It’s how they put food on the table, so I respect that. I don’t have that burden. That gives me an opportunity to steer away from it.

It’s one thing to have an opinion about an upcoming game based on film study. I have access to that stuff, as do others, so I can formulate a stronger conclusion on that front. All I know right now is someone said their source saw Cam in Chicago, the team says he’s visiting then doc for more info, and Kyle Allen starts this week. Until I see Rapaport put a source, names or unnamed, to his take of Cam being a long ways off, I’m filing that under speculation.
