Former Panther Josh Norman is a scratch for Washington’s game today because of his play

I was not a huge Gettleman fan, but unlike a lot of our fan base, I was not too upset when he didn't gift Norman a huge deal.  Why?  Norman was a system guy.  He fit this system well...and need I remind you all even struggled (benched on occasion) as he was trying to grasp our zone concept.  The problem, as it always has been, this front office is slow to replace key pieces until it'a SO obvious that there is a deficiency.

Gettleman should not have rescinded the franchise tag. That was foolish managing.

Yet, he's a healthy scratch today?  Josh has not lived up to his deal in Washington.  He's flashed here and there, but in no way has shown he deserved #1 corner money.

That was 2016. Norman has now passed his prime. We should have kept him for one year (2016) and made another Super Bowl run.

He balled out for about a season and a half and got a mega deal.  Not bad for a dude from a school that's basically an open date for App State every year.

As with many NFL players--He balled out in a contract year.  You have to be leery of player that only show up in contract years.  Heck all of a sudden Vernon Butler doesn't suck after four years of warming the bench. Oh! Contract year...

Agreed, at a minimum we should have kept him that year so we could develop our young CBs instead of throwing all rookies on the field and expecting it to play out well.

Imagine Bradberry and Norman in 2016 instead of a secondary made up of rookies.

The refs letting Cam get murdered on the field, Kelvin Benjamin not giving a fug, and Michael Oher suffering a career-ending concussion are the main factors that undid that season.  Just adding Josh Norman to that doesn't get us to playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl.

No way he was worth that contract, but I don’t know if he was ever a good fit with the defense they play in Washington. He was the 69th ranked cb last year alone and is still one of the highest paid in the league. It makes me wonder what type of contract Bradberry will get this offseason.

    • Not totally inaccurate, haha Except that kid wasn't as excited as I was.  I was yelling louder, and more, and running around the room in circles until I almost passed out from exhausting and was trying to catch my breath for a good 10 minutes because I'm way too old to be doing that, LOLOL Oh, and I tweaked a muscle in my shoulder from all the punching the air I was doing too. For as awesome as that pick was for me, it really screwed me up for a few days between my shoulder and lost voice (Wrexham securing back-to-back-to-back promotions Saturday afternoon contributed to that though too).
    • Getting Pierce jr isn’t forfeiting the pick they just had 2 1sts this year.
    • Full disclosure and the real reason.... I'll be seeing my Nephew in basically one month from today, and while I've gotten him stuff from my other teams the past year, I hadn't been willing to saddle him with Panthers stuff yet, that's now changed lol. So if the jersey would get to me before I see him, I'd get that and him his first Panthers onesie/shirt so I can get a picture of us together in them. If it wouldn't get to me by then, I'd just wait to get the one I prefer.  So yea, my rush is really just about trying to get a picture of myself in it with my Nephew in Panthers gear too.
