My bet will be heavily on the #1 seed just to have the ability of not having to play two of the three top teams.

Unfortunately, the conferences have very strong financial reasons for protecting their playoff contenders. I've long said that the conferences should all chip into a pool and that the refs should be hired by the NCAA, not the individual conferences.
