our cap is disgustingly top heavy. Even though 34 million is a decent amount of space, our top 5 players take up a poo ton of the total cap :

1. Cam $ 21, 100, 000  (IF hes actually health for 2020 this is a bargain/fine)

2. KK Short : $ 20, 339, 000 (This REALLY needs to be fixed ASAP)

3. Luke : $15, 510, 059  (Best player on our defense, fine)

3. Donatari Poe : $ 13, 145, 834 (No way should he be making anywhere near this much)

5. Trai Turner : $ 12, 898, 000  (Iffy about this, its not terrible but the whole oline has been underperforming lately)

So the main problem is we have over 82 Million Dollars strapped into only 5 players on our roster. Thats not good IMO. Especially when none of them besides maybe Luke has earned it lately.

I think that is pretty much par for the course for most teams in the NFL.  In fact, we are in better shape than some.  If you look at the Falcons, they have 84 million tied up in four players, and they only play well against us.  The only good team I can think of that is not top heavy is Baltimore and that is likely to change dramatically in a couple of years.  And maybe New England, as Brady's cap hit is pretty low next year.

How can we fix the KK contract??? Would he take a 5 million dollar pay cut?

There is nothing that can be done about Short, we kicked the can on him so he will be here until probably 2021 at the earliest. Poe we can jettison with minimal impact to the cap. The best cap window to get rid of Turner is probably 2021 as well.

Cam and Poe are really the only two guys that it makes much sense to jettison in the offseason for cap reasons.

Hell no to Cam unless your looking for a TOTAL rebuild. BUT iirc, wouldn't cutting Poe give us like an extra 10 mil to work with. That said, we signed Mccoy at 10.25 mil.

I'm not making an argument about Cam on the merits of what he can do for the team, just stating he is one of the most obvious ways to clear up cap space on paper.

really want no part of patriots.  they've been drafting awful, their talent evaluation has gone downhill, and they're still cheating.  at least if we poach an exec on the football side they may know if mcdaniels has grown up at all.

The team has been caught cheating almost as many times as they've won a ring.

McDaniels left the Colts at the altar in a very unprofessional move and, I gotta be honest, he's running an offense designed for an immobile QB with declining arm strength- neither of which are the case in Charlotte unless Cam returns as the starter next year.

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
