The case for a lineman at #7

Who said that?

A few people like certain people at ESPN who said theyd retire if Jimmy Clausen didnt become a star.

Last years class was known to have the 1 Stud out of Bama

1 high upside Project who was going to go around later 1st.  And some overall Solid that you saw fall to the 2nd

He11 the consensus even last year across the board from everyone was, If Andrew Thomas was able to come out last year.  He wouldve been the #1 OT and top 5 as a Sophomore..................He is currently #2, 3, or 4 OT on most boards currently.  And its not because of him, but because of Others.

He11 Wirfs, the #3-4 OT in the class, 90 % of the people have said he is better than any OT in last years class.  Not just right now, but Last Summer immediately after the last draft.

You just answer your own question.. Obviously you heard the same thing last year as I did even if you don't respect the source...  You heard the same things being said about last years OT class...

But reality check last year draft had atleast 4 to 5 OT rated in the top 30 players in the draft by..

Dainel Jermiah,  ESPN Guys and Most other draft sites had OT as a very strong position in last year draft..

So you saying this year is the year of OT doesn't hold much weight... sorry

Plain and simple take the highest rated player on the board.. If it's a OT so be it.. If it isn't don't reach because NCFAN thinks this is the greatest OT class ever.. Get the better player regardless of position..

Which BPA may be that OT, as you see Many OTs in the top 10 and 15 on peoples big board

And while you mentioned "they say that every year"  its not just OL.  Calvin Ridley was the Next Amari Cooper top 10 etc etc.  But fell.  Sammy Watkins was suppose to sweep the league etc etc.  So does that mean we should be warry of Jerry Jeudy? No

And lastly its not take it because NCFAN thinks this is a elite OT, its because many of scouts writers etc say so.  Yes every class at every position gets hyped Every year.  But when scouts #2-3 OT in this class was being talked up LAST DRAFT that he wouldve been top 5 and top OT last year.  That means this is a Good Class. If Jeff Okuda came back, looked just as good, thrn 2 other elite CBs jump him, does that not mean that is a good looking CB class in 2021, when the same hyped Okuda is the #3 CB in 2021 despite playing and looking the same?

They said the same thing about last year's class .. Dillard, Taylor and Williams were considered can't miss (and if they came out the year before they would be this)..

Like I said if the OT is rated higher then Jeudy, Okulad, or Simmons then you take them.. If not.. Then you must consider getting the better player no matter the position..

I don't know if Jeudy will be rated as high but I know Simmons, Okulad and Brown will be rated higher then any OT (by most if not everybody) and if they fall to us .. There needs to be consideration for taking those positions of need as well..

ESPN had Dillard as cant miss.  Half the people out there Litterally did not say that.  Many had him as a late 1st early 2nd.  He11 Draftnetwork guys didnt even have a 1st round grade At All on him.

Taylor seemed like a 1st round guy but in case you forgot, had Major medical Red Flags that came up around the combine which caused him to drop

So did Jeremiah and CBS.  And others had William's and Taylor rated over him...  The medical Flag came up later.. But at the same time this year as it was last year.. Most draftsites had 4 to 6 1st round graded OT.. And most said " It's the best OT draft in years"..

But please answer my question now..

Will there be any OT in this class rated higher then Simmons, Okulad or Brown??

If it were me, I'd take Thomas.  LT's are hard to find.  We have a RT, and most of the top 5 Tackles are RT.  Thomas is the choice because he's almost unanimously regarded as the best LT in this draft.

That said, if we have choice between him and Brown, we'll take Brown.  Marty won't admit so fast about spending a 2nd and a 3rd on Little.  And we'll miss out on an opportunity for a stud LT for 10+ years while hoping Little develops.  If he doesn't, we're back in the hell we've been in since Jordan retired.

However,  I think Brown is probably the better player overall, and a more sure-fire hit at 7.  He's dadgum good, although maybe just short of elite.  I won't be mad about getting him at all.

Frankly, if we get Thomas, our entire OL looks much better.  Moving Little to guard, with Daley looking like a good backup swing tackle, we'd really only need our center to improve or get another one...in the 3rd round.  Then you have a young talented line to protect the QB.

At least 2 will ahead of Simmons

Potentially 1 will be higher than Okudah and a 2nd will be right about the same.

Brown will be higher

The 2 OTs im mentioning are Wills and Thomas.  Now the #3 OT in this class is one of the biggest freaks in the combine so his stock may jump up there with the other 2

Yes and No

Wirfs has played a few games at LT and looked just as good.  But was moved back to RT when the original start LT (who they didnt think he could play RT like Dillard last year) came back.

Wills has shown all the tools, skills and film for a elite LT.  And while he is at RT, it is essentially the same as a LT as he is the Blind Side protector for the Lefty Tua.

I havent watched any film of him yet but his scouting reports sounds like he is an absolute monster and wants to kill people.  The most aggressive of the bunch.  I could get behind someone like that

Wills is, thats why he is the #1 OT.  Wirfs has that mentality to.  In fact the top 4 guys all have that, want to destroy someone, mentality.  Unlike Dillard who was more Finesse

You want to bet that??  I got Okulad being top 3 in this draft.. Like most ppl are already calling him Jalen Ramsey/Patrick Peterson

Simmons is going to completely dominate at Combine.. A 6'4 230 pound honeybadger/Urlacher? Yeah it won't be close after the combine.

And Brown might be the one that is close to the top OT by the end of this...

But I see nobody comparing any OT in this draft to Munoz, Ogden, Pace HOFers. Like they are with the top defenders.. Please show me this??
