I don’t trust Hurney with the following 2-3 years coming up with contracts....

Cam

CMC

DJ

Samuel

Moton

Bradberry

Boston

Cockrell

This is why drafting more than 1 or 2 starters each draft year is critical for long-term success.

QB1, RB1, WR1 and CB1 money on the horizon worries me if the right decisions will be made.

When you're not a good team, you don't need to splurge on high priced free agents so there's cap room to pay for the few players on your team worth a damn. We're gonna fill out a big portion of our roster with people on rookie contracts. Paying CMC is not going to cripple our ability to field a team. Ironically, if we let CMC walk, we may not have much of a team to speak of for the immediate future.

Let's put it in another way. What do you all want to spend the $16 million per year that it would probably take to resign McCaffrey? Let's use Joe Thuney, the free agent Huddlers seem to have most been clamoring for. It would likely cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $13 million to sign him. You would rather have Thuney and a JAG backup defensive lineman over McCaffrey?

We now have a cap specialist in the organization. Remember? A guy who has done very well for the Steelers. So stop whining about contracts. One of Hurney's weaknesses has been upgraded. Thank God.

Contracts will be different this year because 2020 is the last year under the current CBA and God only knows what the new CBA will look like in the end. My guess is it will give players more freedom under contracts so this year's objective is to tie down those players that you want to definitely keep. Signing bonuses? Guaranteed money? Who knows.

We signed Reid to an extension last year. Too many huddlers thought it was too much money and it turned out to be right in the middle of the pack when all was said and done. And yet the lesson was not learned.

What was the lesson to be learned? Don’t give a S who can’t cover and misses tackles 10M guaranteed? That’s the lesson that should be learned.

I still can't believe Rivera's statements about how they wanted to use 3-4 alignments more but they couldn't because opposing offenses kept "forcing them into" other things.

The promise he made in his introductory press conference about dictating to other teams on both sides of the ball never really materialized.

IMO Rivera was never good at adjusting when his game planning didn’t work - whether it was an issue with scheme or personnel. Hope this isn’t a problem for the new coaching staff.

That we don't have all the information and continually look to the past when discussing contracts. This year the future is very, very different.

What changes? No one knows the new CBA. So you go by current rules. How’s does any of that justify paying Reid too much money?
