Carolina sticking with Cam

When you invest, you buy low and sell high. Selling your most valuable asset at a discount while he is injured is not smart business. I think he will get a 1-year incentive laden extension and we will revisit this same situation next year, after the team gets a fair and thorough evaluation of what they have on the roster.

Nah man dude does this consistently I even acknowledge that if we get a king’s ransom he should be traded. This forum is filled with far too many “I’m just saying” poo posts when it comes to Cam. Why they are allowed who knows but it’s been happening since before he got drafted

And you are going after him because you disagree with his ways of presenting information because you think it is somehow self-serving? And you are not a mod, but you are trying to direct mods to do your bidding?  The man tries to share what he reads and hears. I promise you that he reads more than you do on this stuff--he is perhaps the most well-read Huddler--period (which isn't saying that much).  I appreciate it, for one--and loathe people who think we all should agree with you or we are all dumb. That is pathetically sophomoric.  This Cam issue is way too personal for some on here.  Regardless of how great you think he was/can be, there is reason to question his future in Carolina.  If the mods go after anyone, I doubt it is Mr Scot.

All this means is that Cam is the starting QB in February.  It does not mean that the Panthers are not trading him--

It could mean, however, that they draft a QB this year to take over in 2021, because Cam & Co. could win 7 games next year.  That is basically what you are hoping for.  The commitment to Cam is not going to be found in some presser on Feb 25--it will be in the form of an extension--

I have maintained all along it was not set in stone despite what the inside sources felt. That is why I could not understand the certainty that a lot of you guys were operating under. We don't know what is ultimately going to happen, we are just taking the temperature of the moment.

Also, Ian Makeupareport is pretty notorious for spewing information without any sort of filtering or verification. That is why he is so commonly inaccurate. Not rare in the modern sports media.

I can't speak for all sources, but I know Roaring Riot never said it was a done deal. Actually, I'm not sure anybody here did. That's just how some folks mischaracterized it. If you went back and look at the actual posts, you'd see differently.

The way I typically framed it was "Newton could be gone unless one side or the other changes their mind." We were told weeks ago in All Pro that Newton's side was backing down on the demand for an extension, so basically somebody blinked.

And thus, here we are.

It was never "set in stone", but then neither is this. It's all basically just "likelihood".

We'll see.

Don’t worry everyone Mr. Scot already knew this info months ago, plus you can’t trust the source (Granted he did when they said Cam was gone) oh and history shows us teams say this stuff all the time then trade a player so really everyone direct your opinions and thoughts to Mr Scot as he is the only one who truly knows what’s happening even more so than Tepper, Rhule, Cam and Hurney.

Mods I know you won’t do anything but this guy is pathetic. His thinly veiled poo towards Cam has gone on for way way too long. How many receipts are needed before him spouting the poo he says along with “MUH SOURCES” trying to act right will be allowed?

Maybe the mods should do the same for you with all this baby like whining you are doing. Grow up kid. What is pathetic is you think you are a football know-it-all and you are no where near that.

To get this brainlet vs. brainlet battle back on track, no one should be whining or celebrating based off this limited bit of info. Get back to me after the draft and if we haven't picked a QB, then we can say "OK, they were being serious."

There's no way to know before that. But if we do pick a QB, I, well, I don't want to pick a QB this year.

Ok champ you won’t ever actually address anything because you can’t it’s all good. Multiple times you’ve been called out and your response is something like above or you ignore it @TheRed can verify that for sure.

End of the day it’s always fluid and can change but you’ve taken your hardline stance and everyone knows it. You follow anything your boy says to the death and that’s fine but maybe think for yourself for once. Deuces

Actually, people that can separate their emotions from their logic, and people that can read, know better.

Learning how to take your emotions out of analysis is a useful skill. Here's hoping you discover that someday, but at this point it's clearly beyond your abilities.

The quickest path back to relevance comes by rebuilding a defense. You're far more likely to luck into 20 points on offense with CMC and Moore than you are to luck into holding a team under 20 with Shaq and a bunch of delivery boys and door-to-door dictionary salesmen on defense.

Pick Brown No. 7. If he ain't there, pick Simmons. Go for Kyle Dugger if we can. Dude will be a beast. This offseason needs to be defense-first.

I have no issue that he shares information. In fact I welcome it. That’s not the issue at all. My issue with him is the poo he “hunts at” just far enough away to say well no I meant this instead, that and following a fan club leader as god when it comes to information regarding the inside workings of a billion dollar sports team. I welcome other opinions and some present valid arguments like how if he won’t be ready until that late is it even worth it to keep him as QB, etc.

This report itself means nothing as things can change and that’s how everyone should view this situation but a vocal group have not only already confirmed Cam is gone but even if Rhule at his press conference today said Cam is starter would still claim smoke and mirrors for some reason. It gets to a point when common sense overtakes speculation and “Insiders”.

I’m hoping the team does everything it can to field a winner whether that means keeping Cam or trading him for a massive haul, as long as they show the attempt of field a winner I’m good. And they could start by firing Hurney

    • See my previous post. You're also leaving out that T-Mac was likely hitting a rookie wall, like 95% of rookies do late in their first season, combined with the added attention on him by defenses, which in turn would be why Bryce looked Coker's way down the stretch.  With Coker playing like that to start next year, defenses will have to pay attention to it, which will then also make things easier for T-Mac. All of which is also ignoring that T-Mac will just be a better player next year than he was this year, assuming he works on his game this offseason, which we all know he will be.  If a player who was already your clear cut #1 comes back even better his next season, you're going to make sure you're throwing it his way more often, no matter who else you have. Again, Coker's added targets won't be at the expense of T-Mac's, they will BOTH be taking targets from the rest of the team.  Not to mention, we should be passing it more next year to begin with, seeing as we'll have both of them hopefully ready to go full speed Week 1, which again, will help both their target totals increase. Coker looks like a really good player, but even the most optimistic person can't say he looks like he has #1 potential, he has very solid to maybe even high end #2 potential.  You're not taking targets away from the reigning OROY who looks like a true Top 15 WR already to get your #2 targets, you increase both of them by taking from the others.
    • Need to crush the hawks tonight. A lose would really damage momentum
    • Sorry, but this is a terrible breakdown that doesn't at all show what you're trying to say/project about T-Mac next year, as it leaves out key information that changes everything, it makes the opposite point that you're trying to. Chase missed 5 games that second season after playing all 17 as a rookie (and still saw more targets that second season). Puka it looks like you projected his stats out to a 17 game season (as he only played 11 games), but even still , when you have 160+ targets as a rookie, there isn't really much room to get any more the next year. Waddle saw an increase in yards, and sure, his targets went down, but he played on a team with a better WR that year who saw 170 targets for 1,710 yards during that 2nd season for Waddle... something T-Mac doesn't have to contend with on the same team (280+ targets for their top 2 WRs, if you don't think T-Mac would see more than 122 targets if him and Coker combined for 287, then you're nuts). Then Olave and Wilson both saw an increase of 19 targets in their second season. You basically just laid out the reasoning for why T-Mac should see at least 20 more targets next year, if not more, which would be a solid increase and put him easily into the Top 10 most targeted WR next season.
