Who do you want at 7th? A DT?

I just don’t want to reach. Be it an elite DT prospect, OL prospect, CB etc

I certainly won’t be made at a DT or discredit it’s value there. Brown is probably my favorite candidate, but I just want elite talent. We have too many holes on this team.

Brushing aside how badly we need a DT as is downplaying how bad our run defense is.

the good news is there’s not many positions we can go wrong with. I won’t have a meltdown with anyone as long as we don’t reach. Sadly I don’t have faith in 90% of this board to maintain levelheaded opinions about what this team decides to do.

DT actually need more time to physically develop in the weight room. I only want an intelligent LT who can pick up the game quickly.

No they don't... And their job isn't as reactionary as a LT... LT have way more stuff to learn and develop than a DT who may only have 2 jobs...

A great player can effect any position. Actually LT is not a great learning curve nor is DT. Now DE is where you need time. Very few Peppers and Mario Williams out there. It's why I like the 3-4 better. Less of a learning curve for rush ends.

Yeah I disagree.. After QB, and maybe WR and Cb .. LT is one of the hardest position to come in and learn...

You have to know your offensive scheme, verbiage and techniques of facing many different pass rusher most of the time on a island.. You don't get a break .  You constantly got to face different players or schemes from play to play.. LT is close to one of the hardest position to adjust to..

No players core strength is used more than a DT during a game. The weigh room development takes time, no to mention the quick firing hand fighting and placement.

But he wasn't put at LT immediately.. He had time to develop and grow into the position... So you would be wrong..

He would be an improvement over what we have, so that would be my decision. You can think what you like about what would happen.

Are you crazy?? A LT literally has to have core strength, leverage technique and has to know where their hands can be.. All while getting pushed backwards and facing different types of pass rushers from play to play with no sub or help...

This is getting away from the point.

1.) Cam has to be protected with a better LT than what we have, or the season is lost.

2.) We have an opportunity to draft a potentially very good LT at 7th.

To select at DT and pass on a very good LT at 7th will crush my hopes of having a decent season.

But he is not here and he wasn't put in that situation when he 1st got in the league in the 1st place.. So everything you're saying about Gross doesn't matter or have any relevance..

You're not making a point..

I didn't say a LT didn't need core strength, but a DT uses core strength more. It's the nature of the position.

See above for the original point. The Gross stuff is too far out into hypothetical.

1. Cool .. But it's not a guarantee a rookie can do that... No matter who you pick they will need time to develop...

2. We also might have the opportunity in getting the best Defensive player in this draft as well and our defense sucks..

3. So.... Then you need to figure something else to do this season... The roster isn't great and with new coaching and direction.. There will be a adjustment time for the whole team... Which probably will lead to losing .. You might need to get ready and lower your expectations...

They could probably still get a good pass catchers in the 3rd.. None of the TE are great so you might catch a 5th rounder on that.. Plus the defense was the worst and has more holes in it now... Ppl wanting Oline might want to realize that their not giving up on Little Daily or Pardis this soon .. We might sign a vet OT and maybe draft a young guy who can play guard and centers for depth... But from what Jordan is getting Defense might be a focal point this offseason with some offensive player sprinkled in .. Until they make a move with Cam atleast..

My point still stands. Late <> 3rd round. It sounds like we will be drafting against the strength of the draft. Brown or Okudah at 7 is defense and still value. Drafting D in the 2nd/3rd is likely not great value and while the WRs are really deep, a guy drafted late is likely not having the impact that the day 2 WRs could have.

I will immediately lower my expectations if I see the Panthers ignore LT in the draft. We're sunk if that happens. If we fix the o-line I think we might have a decent season.
