My own interesting stats...

Recommended Posts

Everyone else is doing it....so why not me!

Last year, the weaker-than-this-year New Orleans defense held the better-than-this-year Micheal Turner to these yardage numbers

@ Atlanta : 96 yards, 27 attempts, 1 touchdown, 3.6 ypc

@ New Orleans: 61 yards, 18 attempts, 1 touchdown, 3.39 ypc

And so far this year, the stronger upgraded version of the New Orleans defense has managed to contain the weaker Micheal Turner to....

@New Orleans: 151 yards, 20 attempts, 1 touchdown, 7.55 ypc

Now, for those paying attention, try doing the math on this one. The same 2008 New Orleans defense held your beloved Double Trouble to these numbers (Stewarts numbers in parentheses for easy seperation.

@Carolina: 66 yards (68), 18 attempts (17), 0 touchdowns (1), 3.66 ypc (4)

@ New Orleans: 178 yards (56), 25 attempts (17), 0 touchdowns (1), 7.12 ypc (3.29)

Now remember, the weaker NOLA defense did better against the stronger Micheal Turner than the stronger NOLA defense did against the weaker Micheal Turner........

.......yeah, this doesn't mean anything.

our defense in '08 was epic sort of bad. so far this defense has been really burned on the ground by only one RB.

See, theres why its interesting. Your D was all kind of bad last year, yet held one of the best RB's in the league that year to such low yardage, especially when they were at home. Now, your defense has improved in spades while that same RB has seen a drop off all year, and he torches you. It just doesn't make good damn sense.

1 game like that does expose a weakness, though.

trends start with a single point.

there are several trends that are showing the saints to be vulnerable. it's just a matter of getting them all lined up.

this week the world will see more of the saints vulnerabilities exposed.

how about 7 games?

these are what the opposing teams have done against the saints rushing defense each week. keep in mind, these are net rushing yards...not just numbers from a single starting RB.

week 1 - 33 yards 1.6 ypc

week 2 - 79 yards 3.6 ypc

week 3 - 89 yards 4.2 ypc

week 4 - 132 yards 4.9 ypc

week 5 -bye...time to rest

week 6 - 74 yards 4.4 ypc

week 7 - 137 yards 4.6 ypc

week 8 - 161 yards 6.7 ypc

anyone notice the trend?

    • Throw in the fact that you have to overpay free agents to come here.  Everyone wants to win--or at least have a decent chance at winning. This followed the Bryce Young trade up draft.  That is the draft that crippled an already crippled franchise.   They moved up to #1 and paid the king's ransom only to admit that they weren't sure who they were going to draft--then they picked the wrong guy....amazing incompetence. Now let's take a look at the AT trade--we basically got some future mid round draft capital.  Minnesota has a QB on their roster who reads quickly, is accurate, and is only 24.  (Brosmer).  Minnesota is keeping him on the roster because on the PS, they would lose him.  Is he the answer if we traded AT for him?  Maybe not, but there is potential--as much potential as you will find on day 3 of the draft.  He would be, at worst, the best backup QB on the roster.  Now, did we give Dalton a ton because he has a good relationship with Young?  What if Young does not work out?   Then you have 2 mistakes and no QB. I dunno--I believe in competition, and I believe there should always be efforts to improve the roster--are we trying to make ourselves not look inept?  With Baker and Darnold leaving Charlotte for successful turnarounds, are we capable of having a good QB?   Cam was natural ability and he had the Alpha gene, and we drove him into the ground.
    • When he looks like trash this week against the Cardinals what's going to be the excuse?
    • Facts!!! God damn I wish Cam had this many excuses made for him, he’d be in the hall of fame
