I don't trust Jackson against the No. 2s (Ridley, Godwin, Sanders) yet alone No. 1s.

We almost have to grab a free agent CB at this point.

I trust Jackson against any speedy smaller receiver but now we need a bigger more physical guy to take on that type of we. Ross could be a OK place holder if we run alot of zone if we get him back.

Godwin has gone for 8/121/1, 10/151/0, 5/101/1 and 2/40/0 the last 2 years.

Ridley went for 8/143/1, 5/76/1, 3/90/1 and 4/64/1 the last 2 years.

...So even though he has potential, I'm still greatly concerned about Jackson even as a No. 2.

He is a glorified slot guy.  We wanted speed.  LSU has the pedigree but he has not developed as expected.

I was on the corner train ...full throttle

The more I think about it ... we need our D-Line DOMINANT... which would make the rest of our defense look better....secondary specifically.

That to aside we have the 6th pick in the second round. Technically, we could grab 1 of the following: The ones in bold are who I would pickup to make the most impact Day 1.

Fulton, Delpit(move Burris to corner), Mckinney (Same as Delpit), Epenesa, Jaylon Johnson, Baun, Diggs, Winfield ....

I just get the feeling that Mims will be the pick regardless, if he's still on the board.

OH me too but I trust Rhule and his coaches to bring the best out in him and year 3 is a light bulb year for CBS alot. He's shown flashes but he needs discipline, his recovery speed is insane. It also doesn't help our dline hasn't been the best at collapsing the pocket or stopping the run the last 2 years. Also even if he turns into a high side number 2 those guys probably will get some on him unless the dline can get constant pressure.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
