How much more could you possibly justify a bad contract? You know what would have been a better move financially? Not re-signing him. And, no, he is not one of the top 30 LB's in the league. That is completely ridiculous.

The core of this argument is basically that. You overvalue him substantially, whereas the bulk of the people bitching about that contract don't.

We can table this until after the season so we can see how this ends up but I promise you that you will not see a "Top 30 LB" performance this year. I'll make a substantial wager that we won't see one next year either.

Now you are being ridiculous. If course he is one of the top 30 linebackers. In tackles he ranks 16th in 2019, in spite of how bad we sucked, which is the biggest stat for a linebacker who doesn't rush or primarily play the pass.

Here is an article from PFF which ranks him 18th at his position.

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-rankings-the-nfls-top-25-linebackers-ahead-of-the-2020-nfl-season.

The guy at number 17 Myles Jack just signed a 4 year deal in 2019 worth 57 million. I guess that was bad too.

Your argument is totally subjective and not fact based at all. At 7 million he is a deal this year and totally worth the money. Next year we will see but if 2020 taught us anything is that a year can make a huge difference.

As for waging money on an internet message board.  Grow up.

Is it though? Shaq had 109 tackles last year which was 33rd in the NFL and he signed a 4 year $54M contract. Tahir Whitehead had 108 tackles and signed a 1 year $2.5M contract. It seems like there's a lot more to I than just tackle stats.

LOL. Your argument is just as subjective. Hi Pot. And your focus on "what he is worth this year" is literally ridiculous.

The "wager" comment is figurative. I remember my first day on the internet.

Eric Reid had twice the tackles that Tre Boston did and Reid also had more tackles than Thompson. I guess we should have paid him 4 years and $60 mil since he was one of the best safeties in the league.

He likes to do this. He picks some odd argument, debates, starts losing ground, attacks the person(s), then switches to bragging about his education and expertise in whatever nonsense field to make himself feel superior.

Not at all. Facts are facts , the reality is that I just point out where huddle logic makes little sense and is perpetuated by the same dozen people saying the same thing over and over despite the facts.

The guy ranked at 17 right above Shaq in PFF rankings got a 4 year 57 million contract with 35 million guaranteed. What about that?

And was his 109 tackles compared to.linebackets or all players? Looking at tackles not tackles and assists for linebackers he was 16th which is what we are discussing.

Oh you like PFF?

How does that 49th out of 76 ranking strike you after his big contract? How is that fact treating that contract decision?

All I'm saying is that if you're talking about definitive "facts" they're shouldn't be such an obvious recent outlier.
