I don't think it's a mental readiness, what I'm seeing is physical. He can't run and he can't push the ball down the field. He's not the same QB he was prior to the injury. I think they're doing him a disservice playing him right now. Or maybe they know this is as good as he's going to get physically and they're trying to see if he can figure out how to work with what he's currently got? Well, let me break the news... he's not. If this is the best he's going to get they wasted a #3 overall pick.

He’s just a year removed from a major surgery. I’d expect to see him, physically, in a better place next season. If this is him again in year two then they may need to look at going another route at QB fast.

Then it's a huge disservice to him for the Dolphins to be playing him right now. Especially since they have a viable veteran QB they could be playing instead. I'm confused by this. Either they're forcing Tua into action despite it not being in his or their best interest, or they know this is as good as he's going to get and they're trying to figure out if he's going to figure out how to work around his new physical limitations. I find the former to be very unlikely. I find the latter to be baffling, but it makes more sense to me than the former.

Well, to be fair, I guess there is a third option. That third option being that they're simply fuging morons.

I played D1 baseball. I tore my hamstring in high school in my senior year. We had four games left in the season before the playoffs started. I sat out the four games and then played in our two playoff games. That offseason I had surgery on it. I made it back in time to start the season on the bench. Speed was my game.

I was Football/Track/Baseball for sports in high school every year. Running it what I excelled at. When I got out into games my freshman year it wasn’t the speed of the game that I had to adjust to, it was that my body couldn’t do things that I normally could.

And it’s not just a physical part of the game either. Mentally when you sit there and envision your at bats before you hit and when you predict plays in the field your mind is thinking about how you would handle things as if you were at full strength even though you feel good... your body feels good, but in reality you are a step too slow.

I needed an additional offseason with a trainer outside of what the school provides to get back to form. I would tell coaches I could go and I’m good because I didn’t want to lose my spot to injury but the coaches should have pulled me and just sat me my first year. I’m partly to blame. The coaches were partly to blame. But for me it wasn’t cut and dry like Miami has it where Fitz can come in and take over. The kid that I replaced was pretty poor in the field and as a hitter. So I think the coaches were babying me so I wouldn’t become disgruntled and possibly transfer. If they had somebody else good and ready to go they likely would have benched me until I was full go.

It’s tough but for major surgery it’s the second year you are back to you. And again, it’s apples to oranges. Mine was baseball and a pretty common injury. Tua is the highest level sport you can play with a rare injury that could truly mean this is all he will ever be again. But I just wanted to share where I was coming from with my view.

Yep, Tua basically Bo Jackson'd himself. I have no idea why Miami is forcing the issue. Hell, I half expected him to not even be activated this year. I truly expected his rookie year to essentially be treated like a medical redshirt year. Playing him looking like he is is just baffling. He's a shadow of his former self. He isn't a step slow and lacking a bit of velocity, he looks like a completely different human. He's either nowhere close to ready or he's completely shot.

Well the hip will affect a bunch of that. I completely agree. He should have been treated like he just had surgery and sat out this year.

So what do the dolphins do at qb now?

Fitz has shown nothing but winning, even when you pulled him the first time.

I didn't like Tua pre-Draft - just seemed an oft-injured noodle armed choirboy on a stacked team.

When you see Fitzmagic start the season on fire, get benched for 'the future', then re-ignite the offence every time they have to turn back to him it makes you wonder.

Fitzmagic isn't a great QB (just look at how much he's bounced around the league), but he's a legit solid NFL starter. He looks like an All-Pro next to Tua.

Dolphins Front Office must be worried they've got a bust on their hands.

Some of this is true. Dolphins fans all last night pointed out that they started the season 1-3 under Fitz and that he did cost them the Denver game recently. So he’s been a part of 4 of their 5 losses. Tuas numbers haven’t been great but he’s winning.

Many of you will remember #94 from Coastal Carolina having a good game against BYU but having some questionable plays in terms of sportsmanship. Well, he damn near just decapitated a Liberty player with one of the worst facemasks you'll ever see.

Burfict!  I mean Perfect!

I wouldn't say he's a bust, but he may just need some time to develop.

I also think they should have rode the hot hand and keep Fitz in
