Mahomes is even more impressive than I thought. He gets paid throughout the contract but also doesn't strangle the team in the process. Best QB in football on and off the field.

They need to clear some space. We will take Mahomes and that bloated contract from them for a first round pick. They can have Teddy also just because...

The problem with Mahomes contract isn't this year or even next year.  It's when those 30 and 40 million roster bonuses start coming.  You could convert all of it to signing bonuses and spread it out over 5 years but after 2 or three of those his cap hit is going to be 50 million plus each year.  When you have 1 guy taking up at least 20% of the cap for 4 or 5 straight years it's hard to field any kind of competitive team.  But by that time Andy might be retired and the front office might not even be there.  So they will let the other guys figure it out then.
