1. Trade for Watson

2. Trade up in draft (probably to #2 or #3) for Wilson

3. Trade for Carr

4. Lesser trade up in the draft for Fields or Lance (#5 or #6)

5. Sign Trubisky as FA (this could still be a bridge option if we plan to go with #4)

6. Trade for Minshew

Not interested in trading for Wentz, Darnold, or limping another season with Teddy.

I generally agree with this list.  Regarding #1,  I think the main thing we would offer as an advantage for the Texans over the Jets, etc. is that we are in the NFC and they would be trading him out of the conference.  In about 2 years after Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Ryan retires, the quality of QB play will be ridiculously shifted towards the AFC due to all of the elite young QBs.  If we got Watson, he'd be the only elite nfc quarterback under 30.

I'd probably rather have Minshew than Trubisky.  Honestly, I'd say if we can't get Watson or a QB through the draft, he would be my next option.  He played really well as a rookie and was battling a thumb injury last year, so there wouldn't be as much risk as a shoulder injury, etc.  This article suggests he could be had for a day 3 pick.

If we can get Minshew for a day three pick, then I agree. I pretty much only ranked Trubisky ahead of Minshew due to not having to give up anything in a trade for Trubisky, but Minshew would also come with a considerably cheaper cap hit too since he's still in his cookie contract.

I wanted to throw this out there for people clamoring about a 'sure thing' QB.  I've said it before, you have to sometimes look below the surface and see what potential is there.  Scouting is an inexact science and if it was all about the obvious (records, tangibles, hype) it would be easy.  Some guys get overlooked because of lacking in physical stature, snubs on D-1 offers/4-5 star rankings out of high school, not coming from pedigree college programs or simply stereotypes.  These guys used the snubs to crate a huge chips on their shoulders.  Good for them.

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
