OT James Hudson

Bob McGinn does this really cool draft write up every year where he interview a bunch of scouts about some of the top prospects.

Hudson is an interesting LT prospect in round 2-3, anyone seen him play?

James Hudson, Cincinnati (6-foot-4½, 302 pounds): Redshirted as a defensive lineman at Michigan in 2017 before moving to tackle in ’18 and playing in three games. Transferred in ’19, but Michigan contested his release. Didn’t make his debut with the Bearcats until the Birmingham Bowl in late 2019. Started at left tackle in ’20. “He’s raw, but he’s probably the best natural athlete (among the offensive linemen in the draft),” one scout said. “He’s quick. He’s aggressive. He plays like a (defensive) lineman. He tries to strike guys, which is to his detriment at this point. He’s got to learn some patience and technique. He’s got a lot to work with.”

Was removed from consideration by one team because of off-field factors. “He’s got some issues with consistency and maturity,” said another scout. “He may not be a first- or second-round pick on every board, but I would bet money that he is on 10 of them. If one team brings him in and lets him talk to their doctors and they say he’s fine, they’ll take him in the second. You only have to get picked by one.”

I have to say, I really enjoy the Athletic, especially their draft coverage. I think Brugler is really good, and then you add in McGinn etc. Person is also really good, feels like he found his style. I’ll try to post the QB comments later

Brugler is the best overall draft source. Doesnt matter mocks, ranks, rumors etc. Hes got legit history too, I mean hes been right loads of time and built up credit imo.

McGinn posts real scouts takes for many players, great stuff in all.

DJ at NFL.com is great for ranking, its shows his distain for mocks(honestly I dont care for mocks either).

Jeff legwold is another great draft read, just he releases his top 100 soooo late (like one week before the draft). Still its different and hes got great information on that list that I respect.

Tony Pauline is good for rumors and draft news.

Greg cosell and Jay Glazer are in my circle of trust for NFL news in general and if they report some draft news I listen as well.

I may be missing some other lesser known draft guru, but these are my main go-tos for draft fixed.

    • Giving just a bit of the rds for copywriter reasons  I honestly cannot see this happening tonight for the Panthers   I see either a CB and linebacker or CB AND CENTER  im sharing as many on here follow Dane    33. Buffalo Bills (from CAR): Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas 34. New England Patriots: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia 35. Arizona Cardinals: Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa Between DeJean’s versatility and the Cardinals’ needs in the secondary, this is a team-player pairing that made a ton of sense in the first round — and makes even more sense in Round 2. 36. Washington Commanders: Patrick Paul, OT, Houston 37. Los Angeles Chargers: Junior Colson, LB, Michigan 38. Tennessee Titans: Johnny Newton, DT, Illinois   39. Carolina Panthers (from NYG): Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama   40. Washington Commanders (from CHI): Marshawn Kneeland, Edge, Western Michigan 41. Green Bay Packers (from NYJ): Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M   51. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jackson Powers-Johnson, G/C, Oregon 55. Miami Dolphins: Zach Frazier, G/C, West Virginia 65. Carolina Panthers: DJ James, CB, Auburn
    • well, then we will continue to be a poorly run and dysfunctional org IMO.  I think it's poorly run org.....that you would tie someone's hands and careers to the mistakes and decisions of people you fired before them.  You hired them to come in and create something that works.  That generally would means, throwing in the garbage many things the last group did.   I mean, Bryce simply put could be a good college quarterback that the folks that just got fired incorrectly picked.   Everyone good in college isn't going to be a good NFL player.  And it's also why decent college players often can become great NFL players.  HCs don't determine all that.  Sometimes they do.  Sure.  But again, Bryce in his own words after a dismal rookie season...said he spent the offseason away from football.  Alone and binging you tube and netflix.    That doesn't sound anything like the QBs that have turned into great NFL QBs.    I hope for the best.  But if Bryce repeats last season?  They 100% should move on.  You want to force us into a year 3 just because or fire Canales because Bryce isn't a NFL QB?
    • Yeah I think you have to, he can play his position. Just hope he can stay healthy.
