The two things I look at are processing speed and level of competition.

I still think at 8 we look at which QB is left and take Mac Jones. There are strengths and weaknesses to all these guys, but when it comes down to it, he had the toughest competition and you could watch him working through his progressions quickly to get the ball to the right guy. 

Processing speed, it's just like selecting a new computer -- if the processer isn't up to what you are running, it'll never meet your needs.

Still, it's a roll of the dice. Chances are one of these will make it, maybe two. The rest... maybe? But which ones.

MY #1 thing for QB is how they handle adversity. Issue is lot of these top rated QB rarely experience it..

1) IQ / Awareness

Ability to make good pre snap reads (coverage, blitz, protection, audibles, etc)

Ability to quickly go through progressions after the snap 

Ability to make the right decisions (avoid turnovers, when to run, when to throw it away)

Ability to move in the pocket and feel pressure

2) Arm 

Good accuracy minimum

Decent arm strength minimum 

3) Leadership

Ability to motivate teammates

Ability to be a role model and leader 

Ability to handle adversity 

4) Measurables

Athletic Ability

Height / Weight

But if you are in the top 10 picks of the draft, you are guaranteed to be going to a team with a boatload of that adversity!

Which is what he was saying. It's hard for Golden Boys surrounded by the league's best talent to the NFL on a badly talented team. A lot of guys can't handle that adversity for firsr time in their entire lives.

Madwolf with the assist. NFL has a way of humbling those with gifts and you better be ready to adjust/adapt. You may have a few games or even a full year, like Lamar Jackson, but teams are watching 1,000 of hours of tape trying to stop you. Most have a combined 100+ years of experience too.

I'm sold on Lance/Wilson I want nothing to do with Mac Jones and between OSU qbs and Fields apparent one read style I'm apprehensive of him.

You realize Lance's coaches barely asked him to throw the ball? You realize his accuracy is questionable? You realize he played JV teams on the powerhouse of that division? 

You should be very much apprehensive at the very least of Lance.

You've hit the nail on the head here! We seem a number of first year guys, offense and defense, come out and just kill it their rookie season. Then the next, they hit the wall. That wall is tape, loads and loads of tape (or digital files now) that opposing coordinators watch until someone beats your athleticism with strategy.

The great ones adjust their game, get smarter and move ahead. No place can you see it better than QB and DE. The Pro game is soooo much more complex than the college one for this reason.
