I'm pretty sure Norwell is still with the Jags. I think he agreed to take a pay cut.

Yep. Like I've been saying, Norwell hasn't been bad he just hasn't lived up to that massive contract the Jags gave him. He's a good OG but he was never the type of OG you entertain making the highest paid at the position.

My blunder. He did restructure to stay on the team. Do you think that he would have gotten that reprieve if his College coach didn't get hired there?

LG pointed out he's still paid among the top 10 guard salaries.

You can think that's just because he played for Meyer during his last 2 years of college if you want. Reality though is that Norwell was never bad, just overpaid.

Ok. It was on record that Norwell was trash, which is why he went undrafted. He started doing better once he was plugged into the system we were running then and started to get his footing. He made first team All-Pro, and his name hasn't been brought up till this thread because someone asked about Trai.

And btw, I was asking do you think that which is why it was in the form of a question. You need to get over that pompous attitude. I'm just trying to talk football.

You're doing it poorly.

This many years down the road, nobody gives a sh-t what Norwell was like in college.

You gave a bad opinion about Norwell and now you're spinning like crazy to try to justify it.

Okay, so now coach connection (Rhule brought in players from Temple, Baylor last year-Now Urban at Jacksonville), player's first years in the league(not Norwell in college-beginning of time here), and seasonal honors don't matter. Nobody's trying to spin anything. You are just arguing in a vacuum because you like Norwell more. We could've avoided all this if you had just said that when I asked why. This is a message board. It is okay if it is your basic opinion. My initial question was just to glean from your and Linville Gorge's posts if there was anything else to it. There wasn't.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
