"FORT LAUDERDALE - After claiming three of a possible four points in Tampa, the Carolina Hurricanes are set to square off against the Florida Panthers to defend first place in the Central Division.

The Match-Up

Carolina Hurricanes (30-10-5, 65 points) at Florida Panthers (30-12-5, 65 points)

Thursday, April 22, 7 p.m.

Watch: Bally Sports South, FOX Sports GO

Listen: 99.9 FM The Fan, Hurricanes.com/Listen, Hurricanes app

Numbers to Know

6: Vincent Trocheck, who has recorded at least a point in 16 of his last 18 games (8g, 14a), has scored in all six games against the Panthers this season.

2016: After Jake Gardiner sparred with Alex Killorn on April 19, Jordan Martinook's fight against Barclay Goodrow the next night marked the first time the Canes have been assessed fighting majors on consecutive nights since Jan. 8-9, 2016 when Brad Malone dropped the gloves against Bradon Dubsinsky and Jared Boll of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Opposition

Last five games: 4-0-1, 9 points
At home: 16-4-3, 35 points
CAR vs. FLA: 5-0-1
Leading scorer: Jonathan Huberdeau, 49 points (16g, 33a) in 47 games

The Panthers enter this game having won three straight and four of their last five games (4-0-1). Spencer Knight turned aside 33 of 34 shots in his NHL debut, backstopping the Panthers to a 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Florida owns the same number of points in the standings as the Canes (65), but they've played two more games."

Lot to unpack here heading into our final two with Florida. They've been winning since they faced us in Raleigh. Looks like Bean has drawn Rods ire as he's a healthy scratch and we are bringing up Ryan.

The Ryan move is an odd one. Maybe they just want to see what he has before the playoffs in case of injuries. IDK

Could be but there are better teams to do it against. It‘s pretty clear bean is in the dog house after that soft goal against and the PIM time his past two games.

    • Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.
    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
