Not a pride thing, but I feel the same thing. I can understand the lack of faith. I think it's reasonable and even warranted. I mean we're panthers fans, we're used to being disappointed by the team. Very little reason to believe on such little evidence.

I can also understand the lack of faith, Sam has not show anything at the pro level, but one thing he has shown, is he’s a competitor...and I get a little irritated when people don’t give him credit for one of his strengths.  I think he is judged by his laid back demeanor.

Sam was a late offer by the USC coaches, a bonus QB offer.  There was a returning starter that wasn’t going to lose his job ahead of him, a former 5* Gatorade Player of the Year who was waiting his turn, and a 5* who was already committed in his class.  Sam was standing on the sidelines of practice when he was offered, he turned to the HC and asked “does the best player win the starting job?”, he immediately committed when the HC assured him the best player plays.

True freshman year, our first string defense and the coaches were raving about the kid running the scout team, and what a gamer he was.  He ended up the cause for the *5 in his class to transfer, and he unseated the Gatorade Player of the Year as the starter.  I doubt what happened in NY broke him.

I'd agree that if Darnold doesn't work out, the next guy is probably a draft pick.

And yeah, we should be in a way better position to spend the kind of resources it'd take to get someone like that next year.

I think there's a decent chance that next year's draft is a two QB draft though in terms of slam dunk 1st round QBs.

Rattler and Howell are the givens. Watch out for someone to have a Burrow like year, especially with last year being very short for some teams. Malik Davis looks good, JT Daniels was putting it together once he got healthy at the end of the year, Slovis at USC, and Jayden Daniels at ASU all could jump up with a solid year. It’s really not as bad of a class as people are projecting IMO.

Yep. Howell and Rattler look like top 5 slam dunks barring something unforeseen. Everyone else is a big question mark. There's talent out there, but a lot of questions to be answered.

From this point forward, Tepper(making it public we needed a Franchise QB), Rhule(I believe in Cam, wait no Teddy, ok maybe Sam), and Fitterer(I really wanted to trade back, but now I'm the GM who pass on Fields)*And I know there's going to be some to say other GMs did but he was the first one that actually needed a QB and didn't get one*, are going to be tied to J.Fields his whole career anyhow...

They told the world Sam Darnold is better than Justin Fields, point blank.

Poo all you want...but ever time Fields win and Darnold lose I'm bumping this thread to remind myself, as a fan I got screwed.

Been a fan all my life, if you said at the beginning of last year who you want Teddy or trade the Jets for Darnold, though Teddy wasn't spectacular, he was a winner, and look what this franchise did to him. And now they want me to believe, they can turn a proven loser into a winner.

They was scared Fields was like Cam, all the credit would have went to him turning this franchise around. So they want to prove they can without a... let's say a versatile QB.

Horn can be Deion Sanders good, but Deion Sanders with a QB =Superbowls...

Darnold is only Young(notSteve) in age, but will fall like Troy(notAikman)

I'm always going be fan, but I feel the pain  that Browns, Lions, and yes the Jets felt all these years, knowing this is just the beginning.

So....if Darnold was a blessing in disguise...

They brought the GOAT back.

Still true statement though...and someone owes me money...
