Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina

About OT--Daley was not bad when he played.  I know, injury history, but sometimes, it is just bad luck.  I think he will win the LT job, but we have 3 who could reach the average level (Daley, Scott, Erving).  I am not giving up on Christensen either, but I found Rhule's comments about him at RT to be disturbing.  Was that for Moton negotiations or was he a depth pick?  At 25, he needs to start now-can he beat out what we have at G now?  Not seeing the spot for him at this time.

Brown is not a great fit here.  We shall see, but his brand of RG is starting to become a bit obsolete, with the zone blocking schemes. Maybe a goalline and special teams G, but I am not seeing the fit in the offense.  Of course, I hope that I am wrong.

It reminds me of the Duke Robinson pick, and that is not fair to Brown.

That's sort of a larger problem with our OL depth chart in general. Outside Moton and Paradis, it's project players, guys with suspect injury histories or just mediocre to bad players. It's really hard to see that morphing into an effective unit when you look at it on paper. The hope is we stay healthy and maybe we can get a five man starting unit that develops some chemistry.

I agree on Christensen and Brown. Christensen seems like a guy they just got enamored with his RAS score and assumed they could just make something out of him because of what a great athlete he was. I hope we really don't regret that move. Brown was a decent guy to gamble on in the 6th round but he does seem like a relic kind of OL. He'd have been a monster on our early 2000's John Fox teams. He might even be decent with a solid four other OL around him but we probably don't have that.

I just couldn't wrap my head around our overall OL decisions this offseason. I am skeptical of Darnold but hopeful about his skillset. On the other hand, it's really hard to be optimistic about what our OL looks like. That group makes me very, very, very nervous.

I mean we drafted a lineman 11 picks later. From what I read, we didn’t think Marshall would be there at 70, but thought Christensen might. So they had (in their eyes) a first round talent fall into their lap at 59, then addressed another need at 70. Every need wasn’t going to get addressed in this draft. If Sewell was there at 8 I’m certain he would have been the pick. You have to go BPA early in the draft.

This is true. I honestly think they were all in on Sewell and that basically fuged up the rest of their entire draft. I won't lie, when he started dropping, I was so fuging excited. What's even worse, is that Detroit kicked him out to RT and is probably going to ruin him. Man, that first round was so depressing when he got picked right before us.

In hindsight, I really love the Horn pick(was too butthurt to like it at the time) but it will really sting if Sewell actually does develop into an elite NFL LT.

Honestly I wanted Fields or Sewell. The more I see of Horn the more I like him though. He definitely looks the part of a lockdown CB1, something we haven’t had for a while minus one random season from Norman.
