Offense:

Still low, but we are getting better. 19.6 pts/gm (23rd), 331.2 yds/gm (21st)

174.7 pass yds/gm (25th), 156.6 yds/gm (3rd)

Total Offense- 21st

Defense

avg. Pts allowed 23.9 (21st), yds/gm 314.6 (11th), pass. 186.4 (4th), rush 128.1 (25th).

Total Defense- 11th.

The passing game is has clearly been the biggest problem with the offense. I think if the team can continue performing similar to what they did in Atlanta and NO (around 200 passing yd/gm) the overall offense will improve greatly.

Average points allowed is slightly inflated due to offensive turnovers putting the defense in bad situations. All in all the defense is strong and seems to be getting stronger so long as we stop being bitten by the injury bug

stopping the run is another problem

It seems like their problems agains the run are mainly due to the Panthers DE's losing containment, because almost all of the big runs against them have been to the outside. Of course, it doesn't help that TD got hurt either. I kind of wish that would have happened earlier in the season so they could have gone after Spoon. He is playing lights out with the Eagles and he would have fit right in with the Panthers again. OH well, it does no good to think about what could have been.

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
