That contract makes zero sense for him or us.

Disagree for us. 4 mil is easily worth never having to watch PJ or Will Grier type backups.

For him, I never expected he would have signed last year for $2.5mil. Why would he not like a 60% raise. If he turned out to be our starter, by the end of his contract he’s still young enough to get paid. Worth pursuing imo.

His agent would be like Don't fuging Do That!!! All this hypothetical free agency stuff with QB's and O-line is not realistic. No one is coming here unless it's their last option, until Rhule is gone

Why did his agent let him sign for 2.5mil last year? Do they think he’ll suddenly land a $10mil+ gig this year? I don’t think so. He’ll be seeking a cheap, prove it deal and I hope we’re the ones to give it to him within reason.

That isn't how those contracts typically work. He took a short term, small deal so he can raise his stock eventually. Same thing Cam and Winston did.

The goal isn't to sign a long term deal for nickels.

I guess we’ll have to see what kind of deal he gets this off-season. Could always build in significant bonuses if he starts a certain # of games and we make playoffs. I trust Samir would get that right.
