Charlotte FC 0 - LAFC 5

MAR stated that he isn’t Harry Potter and can’t do magic… it appears Lattanzio is not a wizard either.

A thorough ass kicking tonight via an LAFC team that was without two of their best players (Bale and Chiellini).

The wheels have fallen off and you can start to see it in the way the team plays and addresses one another on the pitch.

To make matters worse, Charlotte FC travels to NYCFC next weekend in what could be another ass whooping.

We’ve staved off these type of ass whoopings all season, which is admiral tbh. I had low expectations going into this season as an expansion team, so the way we’ve played for the most part has felt like house money. I honestly expected these types of losses more often than not

The MAR aftermath is really starting to hit especially since we’ve basically offloaded an entire starting midfield. I think we all realistically knew Bender would have growing pains and hit a wall. McNeil is pretty much looking like a CLT Independence player in MLS. Great energy but outmatched for the most part

Fuchs and Afful are cooked. Sobocinski and Malinda should be the CBs for the rest of the year next to Walkes. Byrne should slot in immediately at RB and honestly, try Lindsay at LB. Mora has done well but he’s slow

Winter transfer window will be huge. They should buy down Alcivar AND Jozwiak’s DP contracts to open them up. Would love Shinyashiki back but there’s obviously something going on there if he’s not even sniffing the pitch.

Year 1 was always going to be a pain, we just held it off longer than most. I’ll still watch the games b/c I’ve honestly enjoyed the season as a whole and having a MLS team to root for. Going to home games are fun and I hope that atmosphere stays

TLDR; read it

All very good points, I also think there is something going on with Shinyashiki. Almost seems like they’ve given up on re-upping his contract and now he can’t get time on the pitch.

Also agree with buying down Jozwiak and Alcivar.

I’ve also enjoyed having an MLS team to root for, though I might as well be rooting for two because that’s how bad Man United has been to start the season.

Good post.

I had a thought last night, but Bender seemed to have most of his best games when we were playing the 4-4-2 and he was playing as a wide midfielder vs playing central. We’re already crowded on the winger but maybe that’s where Bender might be best right now. He really doesn’t seem to do much centrally in the way of controlling possession. Guess we’re committed now to the 4-3-3 but maybe something like a 4-2-4 could still make use of our wingers and give Swiderski that 2nd striker to play off when he was successful early on as well. Might as well experiment now that we’re likely out of the playoffs

That’s a despicable half of football.

At some point as a manger and as a player you have to realize that you have to have some sort of possession of the ball, even if it’s just knocking the ball around the back for a bit.

NYCFC dominated possession and ran us ragged, long term that’s going to benefit them when our legs are gone.

It’s going to take a miracle to come away with a point.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
