Durham wants to be hip like Charlotte with all it’s brewieres, NODA, Camp North End, Plaza Midwood, etc… but in reality it’s got a decent downtown with a nice university and few nice neighborhoods… the rest of the city is constantly full of crime and gunshots.

You poor thing

The issue here is that the nice parts of Durham aren’t the only parts of Durham.

How much has Durham changed since 2019? Because only three years ago it was still the most unsafe city in NC outside of High Point.

Not to mention, if Durham is so nice then why are they talking about adding shot spotter again… the town may have added nice tenants and buildings, essentially putting lipstick on a pig… but it’s still crime infested.

I’d rather walk into a Target and know I’m not going to get shot at then walk into a bar and not walk out later.

Funny thing is all those new millionaire wifes didnt feel safe either and neither did their visitors .....So what happened was an more seen police force. It was beyond funny watching that whole "defund police" drooling rhetoric and it not happen in certain areas...even if some that lived there where the most vocal. too good. The cops just push the riff raff further away, they may not build a case, but they can slow the rate of your business....

I mean it is unfortunate for the city. Even though I’m a Carolina guy… Duke is one of if not the most beautiful campus in the country and it’s without a doubt the best hospital in the country. The downtown area seems relatively hip and safe but it does seem that they’ve pushed a lot of crime out but it’s on the outskirts of Durham which unfortunately for Durham… is still part of Durham.

I own land in hurdle mills and cannot wait to move to that area.  Paradise

that area looks nice.

The only thing I wish I had was more land and some woods behind my house. But Eno River state park is a three minute drive so that’s a nice trade off.

It’s not a stigma… do your research before being a dick. Just three years ago the FBI listed Durham as the most unsafe city in NC outside of High Point.

I agree, funny thing is those NYers that move there, they know how to handle a city and its certain areas. Im a UNC supporter and all, but you BESTTTT believe if I need medical attention, Im taking my ass straight to duke. Even the the wealthiest arabs come to duke for surgery. Tho they are more focused on "new ground breaking" methods/tech and could care less about a broke finger....Im still going there.

Yes yes be very afraid of the roving gangs looking to rape and kill you. Do not come to durham. Please, stay away. Cary is a much much better option for you if you’re considering the triangle!

Congrats…

From that article: FBI crime statistics show that Fayetteville, Greensboro, Rocky Mount, Goldsboro, Asheville and Charlotte all had higher rates of violent crime, per 100,000 people, in 2019, the most recent year for which data is available.

please tell me you don’t live in Charlotte

    • No need to explain everyone on here ‘drunk posts’ watching this team …who could blame anyone  when they were mentioned in the same breath as the Jets and Browns onward and upward as far as bryce’s little fella self, can take them
    • Sigh, we should of have kept Ashawn over this bum.
    • Well, everyone is a critic.  not much meat on the bone here in analysis but if the team needs motivation … lol   I have also heard a lot of talking head or two say that ‘Young is not in the same class as most of these teams and that in 12 of the 17 games he is the lesser QB   BR write up below  2025 record: 8-9 Last season, the Carolina Panthers made the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They won the division. Bryce Young made strides, throwing for 3,011 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a 63.6 percent completion rate. Wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan won the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In free agency, the Panthers signed edge-rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd to bolster their middling defense. Carolina can win with complementary football if the offense continues to trend in the right direction. In 2026, Carolina will play the AFC North and NFC North on a first-place schedule, which includes matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and the Seattle Seahawks. The club will have a much tougher 17-game slate than it had last year, which may lead to regression. The Panthers aren't on the same level as the league's top teams. We'll see the gap between them and division-winning clubs from the previous season. 2026 projection: 6-11
