What to do with remaining cap room?

my bad.  you are right.  I had the contract messed up in my head.

in 2023, his cap hit currently is 21 million.  So they will 100% have to do something with Robby and his contract prior to 2023.

Cutting post June also creates 10 million in cap space to use.   We drafted TMJ.   Put him out there.  I'm a firm believer in repping the guys you drafted.   Either TMJ can fill the void or he can't.  If he can't you just roleplay it by committee.

and I think they could use some of that money to go get a real WR to insert into the slot.  That would help our QBs.   That was a big difference in our offense in 2021 from 2020.  The slot.

Definitely on board for moving him after this coming season. Right now his trade value is as low as it can be.

If we can trade him next year, we'll still have to eat 9m dead but will free up 12m.  If he manages 800+ yards and 6-7 TDs, there are probably teams out there willing to trade for him.  Given his salary would only be 9m (and he'll only be 29), we may be able get at least a 5th back.

Needs to have a much better year this year with way fewer drops.

and now that we added a young QB that I hope to see at some point this season...I simply don't like Robby as one of our starting two.  Just as simple as that.   He has never been consistent and IMO is limited on how diverse he can be since he weighs 78 pounds.

Plus, I just want to see more of TMJ.  I think his skill set pairs up better with QBs that aren't great given he can be more physical.

I would love one of Clowney or Julio, especially Clowney since I'm a biased USC alum.

But I think we should be calling up Ryan Fitzpatrick immediately and paying him to the professional leader in that QB room. Given Darnold's injury issues last season and the teams preference to maybe sit Corral as long as possible, Fitzpatrick could get some time at QB1 on Sundays.

Fitzmagic would be QB1 to start the season if you brought him in though.   Someone would have to go.

We clearly cleared 30 million in order to absorb a possible Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo acquisition. Since that’s not happening we simply save it for next season

I assume this is the real reason we let Reddick walk instead of signing him early.

    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
