Games won this season will be in spite of the coaching staff

Baker struggled in the first half, but given how long he’s been on the team and how little chances he had to play in the preseason, that was to be expected. Second half, besides a few plays, he looked great and I think he will only get better as the season progresses.

Now, onto the coaching staff -

WTF are they doing. Rhule is so far out of his league, eventually the face he makes on the sideline of pure confusion is going to become permanent. Team was completely unprepared. OL looked like poo (don’t you think you should have let the starters play together A LOT more during the preseason you dumbass?). DL got beat up and pushed around. Everyone looked like they forgot how to tackle, but were trying to play shoulder check with everyone.

This all comes down to coaching. Rhule, Snow, the whole group of them are exactly who they were last year which is a group of under qualified, overpaid, used car salesmen. Always outmatched, outcoached, and playing responsive football instead of dictating any game with planned strategy.

Get all the way down there and settle for a FG? I get that is usually the right move, but its also a pussy move in that situation. There is zero “go for the kill” behind this regime and even if there is, I don’t think he would know how to articulate it to the rest of the team.

TLDR - Love me some Baker, he’s going to get better. I want nothing more than Rhule and co to be fired ASAP.

Yeah for McAdoos huge play calling sheet that was insanely vanilla boring obvious poo. Snows D looks like Snows D without Reddick, Rhule still sucks at time outs and picking starters, pretty much the extent of it

It was like McAdoo was simply picking plays blindly from his playbook and not considering our strengths vs their weaknesses. Icky was being given the arguably best DE in the league in his first ever game and we did nothing about it.

Same with Snow sticking to his ineffective college odd-formations when Al you need to do against these guys is stack the box. We are set to get run over this year.

Coaching was sooooo bad today it’s hard to fathom. And it’s also on them for having Elflein-Baker so poorly connected. It’s like they took no reps together.  And I didn’t even see them practicing after those snaffoos on the sideline.

Simple coaching 101. This is sub Rivera at his worst. Easily the worst coaching we’ve ever had. Seifert was just getting old but at least had decent assistants.

....thought they should have had Foreman in there helping most plays with cmc in the slot or backfield with him.... our TE's are as useless as teets on a boar pig....

WTF do you all actually want? Last season, the team opened the season (and a few games) doing good things only to collapse in the second half of season and the games. All off-season you all bitched about “No adjustments. No adjustments.”

This coaching staff and team made adjustments in the second half today, and but for two obviously blown calls by the refs, the Panthers are 1-0 right now.

Most of the fans here will never be happy. Y’all just want to bitch and moan from your Lazy Boy hoping this team fails so you can be right about Rhule.

    • It probably would be. Given that most 6th and 7th rounders aren't NFL game day material except on the Panthers, the pick might improve us slightly with a drafted player, but I'd like to see us actually be able to open up the field. I do think some of our offensive problem stem from defenses aren't afraid of Bryce's arm. They cover a short field and that makes life a lot easier for them.  If it doesn't work though, unless we get rid of the scouting department and whatever drafting algorithm Dave is making us use, it won't really matter anyway.
    • I think the Baker/Darnold thing has been overblown. QBs that struggle with the team that drafts them and go on to find success elsewhere often do end up going to multiple new teams before they figure it out and/or find the right situation. It just so happened that we traded for both guys in back-to-back years and neither player had quite figured it out yet. Baker, I think, needed more time and a better supporting cast. Darnold, I think, benefitted from a year on the bench in San Francisco a ton. I don't really have any ill will towards either of them. I think they both came here with the best intentions after coming from difficult circumstances; unfortunately the Panthers were - and still are, it seems - also in the process of figuring things out.
    • At this point this is all I want from this team. I'm done hoping for wins. I just want to see a competitive team for 4 quarters. Come out of the gate hard and don't give up no matter the score.
