Contract credit?

I have seen Florio argue timing is good due to a buyout clause where Tepper gets a $ for $ credit for whatever money Rhule gets in his next college job assuming he lands one.

So Panthers still hold his rights and if somebody wants him they have to pay Tepper off?

No I think Panthers just owe less to Rhule in guaranteed contract money

From what I've seen, he gets paid his 40 mil from Tepper regardless.

Edit: Well, maybe not. Offset language is offset language.  Tepper will still be on the hook for something, but, really, who cares at this point? I was never concerned with Tepper's money, and never will be.

We pay the rest of this season.

Essentially what this means is  for next year and the years following - if we pay him 10 mil a year as his salary and his college contract pays him 6 million a year, we are only on the hook for the difference, or in that scenario 4 million a year.

If he does not coach, well - we're paying him a cool 10 mil to play golf then.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
