NYPost article on John Fox...

Even with Jon Gruden committing another year to TV, there’s a rock-star list of available Super Bowl-winning head coaching candidates on the market: Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren, Bill Cowher, Brian Billick.

There’s not as many anticipated openings as the record 11 in 2009, making it unlikely Fox would immediately get scooped up for another head-coaching gig. He loved his time in New York — co-owner John Mara is a big fan — and although he has no ties to Coughlin, it is known that Coughlin respects Fox as a defensive mind.

makes sense to me. i've been saying the same thing about him finding another HC job after leaving here (not very likely to happen) so this makes a lot of sense. giants could be his next HC job if he is able to get back his old magic and coughlin retires.

i don't care either way. i'll just be happy to move forward here.

People go back to their roots often, but i doubt Fox would take a backseat job after being head honcho for 8 years...
lots of former HCs do it and fox might not have another choice unless he wants to HC college football or get into media somehow.

the market isn't going to be very favorable to him.

but there aren't enough jobs out there for Foxy to find a perfect fit. Most coaches when fired go to be coordinators again or take TV jobs for a bit.......Fox definately ain't a TV guy.

If Fox gets fired he sits out for a year, at least. I can't see him succeeding at a top level college with no recruiting background to speak of, Notre Dame will not be sniffing that's for sure. Also, typically fired HC's still collect on their contracts UNLESS they take another position. So, anyone hiring him as DC would have to pay him as a HC for him to even break even.

I think Richardson is making a mistake if he fires Fox.

Were a quarterback away from a great team and even Fox knows it.

Some of think the opposite..... I think Richardson is making a mistake if he DOESNT fire Fox. It is time for him to move on and for this franchise to move forward. Including this season the Panthers have had only 3 winning seasons the past 7.

Plus if this team is only a QB away then how do you expect a Fox/Hurney combo who have only drafted 1 QB the past 7 years, plus they saw what happened when Jake got hurt 3 seasons ago yet here we are again with no other options - if this team is a QB away what confidence do you have Fox can solve that problem when he has failed miserable already to do so??

Firing Fox would be a mistake. He is a good coach and I am pretty sure won more NFC games in the last 8 years than maybe any other team (not sure about that but probably up there). Yeah he needs to unhook from Delhomme and get a real OC but if it were me I wouldn't fire him.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
