Yes it was vs Tony. What a move!

Best shooter on our team hands down if he didn’t play in Ron’s system he’d be a 50 goal a year player. But he adheres to the system, and personally I’m ok with an all for one, one for all system.

It also needs to be mentioned that he's been noticeably invisible for a few games, too.

I mean, his game last night was one for the books, but let's not fool ourselves, either. He needs to show up every night, especially with Svech gone. Not saying he needs to score, but he needs to make an impact.

He does these stretches because that’s how Rod uses him. If he scored every night we’d be the best team in hockey for the past 5 years. His two way is ungodly. And I figure we have even waiting for a cup challenge to unleash him.

I’m not blaming Pool Party for Aho’s slump but I do think it was daft to put him with Aho. I get the Canes were looking for some World Junior Magic but it takes time for guys to adjust to our system.

I do think the lines as they are currently constructed, give us the best chance to win.

Martinook - Aho - Necas

Jarvis - Kotkaniemi - Fast

Teravainen - Staal - Puljujarvi

Noesen - Drury - Stepan

Not sure I like Marty on the 1st line.  I like Turbo moved to 1st or 2nd and Marty playing with Staal and Puljujarvi.

Svech's injury has made it tough to optimally configure the top 3 lines, but that's my opinion.  If you put Turbo on the 1st line he probably doesn't shoot enough (he already doesn't, but with Aho and Necas that gets worse).  If you move Jarvis up to the 1st line and put Turbo on the second line, Turbo probably (maybe?) will shoot more, but I think that makes the 1st line worse defensively.

There's a lot to consider - I like Marty for his energy but he is typically a black hole when it comes to creativity and scoring.  Of course when I stated at the beginning of the season I thought Marty shouldn't be in the starting lineup he performed well so hopefully he gets this memo.

You know Martinook is playing well when every time you look, someone on the opposing team is going after him.

He was in Kucherov's head less than 10 minutes into the game.

He grinds but that’s why he works so well on the Staal line. He’s not meshing well on 1 as a unit right now though. And didn’t the last time we tried this. I’d almost like to give Noesen a shot at one and put Jarvis on 4 until he starts scoring again.

    • ^I want that, but Rodriguez over KC. Don't hate KC as much at that spot, but rather take a WR with the pick we gain in that trade than in the 1st.
    • I think there is good points in this thread to what the team needs to do. 1) Ball isn't really the issue but, he needs reigned in.  Coach and he need to realize when things aren't falling from the three and learn to play other facets of the game.  He's an amazing talent and when he's on, he's on.  But he can also shoot you out of a game.  We're lucky Miami went that way but that is too many missed threes.  He still needs to bulk up if he can, but he needs to drive more.  He's pretty good at finishing usually and hopefully the fouls come (probably not though).   2) The whole team needs to be more physical.  As others have stated, we need more bulk in our bigs.  Diabate is a hurricane of energy but cannot go against the larger centers.  I love him on the team but he should be more of a match up type guy or energy off the bench.  I think he'd be insane off the bench.  However I think the biggest issue with Diabate and Kaulk is the lack of offensive game.  The lack of a jump shot or anything.  Teams figured out to just leave them on the screen and crash lanes.  There has to be some sort of threat.  We need a 4 and a 5 that can do those things and stretch out the court. 3) Bridges.  He's just undersized.  However, I feel he really threw his all into it the last few weeks when others were gassed.  He was ok not being a focal point.  I'd like to have him off the bench as well but I assume he'd be traded to make things work.  4) Miller.  Dude can light it up when on, but disappears for quarters at a time.  Also he needs to work on ball handling and passing.  He's a turnover machine at bad times.  Also hopefully over the injury so he can bulk up too.   5) Kon. Just a rookie.  Long season and back injury.  I have no doubt he'll be back stronger and focused.  Needs to work on defense and physicality like the whole team but yes, a rookie he'll get there. 6) Coby.  Has to be resigned, no question.  The bench lineup is rough without him running the point.  Team has big potential and the front office seems sharp.  They seen the hive and how crazy it got and how much the city wants this.
