The Matt Moore throw "in question"

You have to feel optimistic watching Moore in 07 and this past Sunday. For his first 4 NFL starts....he has looked just as good as lots of guys who have earned starting jobs later on. Not saying he will......but those who are still defending Jake as just as good and Moore has shown anything.....that is a tad much.

:iagree:

We need to see a lot more from Moore before we proclaim him next year's starter, but I haven't seen enough to tell me he can't be a starter in this league yet.

Let's just enjoy the rest of the games and look forward to someone different at quarterback next season, whomever that may be.

yeah, it wasn't perfect...but is was very good. I mean, to nitpick Matt Moore on that...just shows some people are desperate for him to look like Jake. His deep ball to Moose was also a pretty good pass.....Moose just has no business on those routes any longer. It was placed in the only spot he could have put it.

It wasn't very good either. Moore tossed it up and Smith adjusted to the route and made the catch. The only reason it worked was that Davidson hadn't gone with playaction and a deep pass all day. The Bucs secondary was completlely surprised. Most of us at the time were calling for a play action deep pass for the better part of 2 quarters.

In the end, any completed pass is a good pass and after the troubles we have had with the deep ball, we will all take it. But it doesn't portend anything nor does it demonstrate any great touch.

Remember this isn't Moore versus Jake but Moore versus making the squad next year. Like it or not Jake has a 20 million guaranteed contract so he is more likely to be here next year than Moore. Moore is a free agent after this season and unless he impresses he will gone. He can be better than Jake and still be gone.

Oh dear...Moore's pass wasn't dead on...after a monsoon week of not having a lot of time to get the timing patterns down...a year's worth or more of time with the 1st teams.

Chill.

The fact the guy has a better pocket presence and has some escape capabilities is a good thing. The arm is just a benefit and an afterthought in a John Fox offense anyway.

it was very good. He hit the open man for the longest pass play of the season. Sure, the 50+ yard throw should have been a tad farther to the sideline....but it was still good throw. That opportunity has been there several times w/ an open Smith....and Jake has missed it or given the ball away.

I mean, Tom Brady rarely hits Moss on a deep passes perfectly....it just doesn't happen. There are slight adjustments.....Moore's throw was good and that isn't much of a debate. He hit the open man on very deep ball.....to spin it as a sign of Moore not being good is a tad lame imo.

For me, it is only about the best option to win now. That is what these talks are about. He is better than Jake. No point thinking about next season when there could easily be a change at HC.

Just cuz it wasn't a Drew Brees ball that could sail 60 yrds in the air and still hit a striding reciever between the numbers your gunna complain? Since when do the Panther fans have ANY reason to be pissed about a deep ball completion that basically put the game away?

Moore had only thrown 12 passes since '07 coming into this game. What do you expect? God forbid a Panther quarterback isn't lighting up the scoreboard. Cuz us as panther fans are soooo used to good QB play :rolleye:

If Jake would drop his pants for you, I guarantee you would start blowing.

are you guys seriously nit picking on that one pass? i can find mutiple passes of peyton manning and brady, where they threw wobbly ducks and still completed passes. it wasnt a picture perfect pass but it was a good pass. even the commentators said so. Why do we have to tear him down because he doesnt fit someones agenda of drafting another qb or getting some one else. s

sometimes i feel that some wish him to do bad so they can say "See! it told you matt moore sucks!"

Read my post, I said any completed pass is a good pass. My point was that it wasn't well thrown and it wasn't. As for this year versus next, tell Moore that it is only about this year. He is playing for his job plain and simple. based on the contracts involved, he can play better than jake and be gone while Jake remains the back up.

I know that will roast some haters cookies.

BYW, I was at the game and rooted for Moore to do well. My first post here was not to castigate Moore but blame Davidson and the playcalling. I still think we don't have a clue what Moore can do. He didn't make enough deep throws to see much at all.

yeah, you say that...and then in the same breath talk about how it wasn't actually any good. If you want an example of that pass not thrown well...watch Jake do it against the Jets or the Eagles and get an open Smitty picked or one of the other games where he doesn't get it close enough for Smitty to get a finger on it.

I do agree with you on Davidson and the lack of opportunity to make a real evaluation on what Moore can do as a QB.
