I predict the magic date where our next head coach is announced will be January 12th.

Another interesting thought: It's entirely possible that Jake Delhomme will never take another snap. If Fox decides to let Moore finish the season, then Jake's playing career might be essentially over. No way does he start anywhere next year, he would have to hope for an injury to the better quarterback on whichever roster he lands on next season, ours or not.

probably the case. on that note, i'm willing to bet if the NO game comes down to a victory formation for the Panthers, it will be Jake taking the knee.

Ha, you guys are funny. You think Fox will be fired soon. I'd bet my life he's not. Why would JR take a hit $ wise? There is no reason to unless there is a coach JR just cannot pass up. Fox is the best coach this team has had like it or not and they will let him finish up his last year on his contract...it makes the most sense business wise. Foxy does well with easier schedules, especially after a mediocre season, forget the pressure of it being his last year on a contract.

Also to add to the scenario a possible lockout in 2011, so they would be stuck paying a new coach with a new contract while nothing could be happening. The ONLY way I see Fox leaving is if there is a coach JR has his eyes on that wouldn't be available in 2011 and no, I don't think Cowher is that guy, but who knows.

I am no Fox lover but you have to look at both sides of the field and not get your hopes up and think it makes sense to get rid of him for the sole fact that you don't like him. He has always had mediocre seasons, no different from this one besides Delhomme, and Delhomme on the other hand, is worth every penny to be paid off so he'll leave.

So from a business perspective, it would not make sense to fire fox...I doubt they don't take a 'business approach' to the situation, but that would be the only way for a new HC IMO.

No he's not, it is up the end of next season.

you have to remember, people who worry about postseason things hard enough to obsess over them in every thread so they can wait to piss and moan about the team not doing what they wanted them to do?

They've moved on to next season. They've quit. The football that's happening now is inconsequential. So that sort of "this season/next season" thing blurs a little.

Because he's gonna lose alot more money (and interest in his product) keeping Fox on. Despite that, I expect them to keep Fox and continue to let this franchise wallow in "under the radar" mediocrity. Thats the type of passive leadership we have on Mint St.

    • I agree Tepper completely bumbled everything after purchasing the Panthers. Kept Rivera and Hurney too long, including letting Hurney last into Matt Rhule’s tenure instead of hiring a GM to hire the head coach, and then hiring Matt Rhule and giving him way too much power, then keeping him into year 3. For all the reputation Tepper has as having too quick of a trigger finger with coaches/GMs, it is entirely unwarranted. 2 out of 3 head coaches and GMs he kept too long. That being said, it would have all probably ended up fine if Matt Rhule had not been a complete egotistical idiot who felt the need to piss all over everything about the franchise to mark his territory. All he had to do was keep Cam on the last year of his contract, listen to 1st round draft genius Marty Hurney and go up and get Justin Herbert, and not trade for reclamation project QBs every year. And now hearing poo like this, how about not run your star RB in goal line drills his first practice back from injury. I wish Matt Rhule nothing but the worst in his coaching career because it was his hubris and arrogance that led to all of this.
    • Chris Paul Jr should be high on the list. He might be able to start by mid-season (time to pick up the defense). He's already better at beating/shedding blocks than any other ILB on the roster.  So tired of watching guys run into OGs and play push with them. Beat the friggin block so you can make a friggin tackle!------- Please!
    • Sir, the Panthers are not going to have a winning season this year. They're too young/inexperienced at the skill positions. I'd say 2026 is the season for winning expectations. This year is for development.
