QB School Matt Corral

Watched the video. Corral has tools that make him worth developing. However, he should NOT be counted on to win an NFL game with his arm this season.

I do NOT anticipate the Patriots will actually be able to develop him though. Bill doesn't have that kind of track record. Mac came in as a largely finished product (and hasn't really gotten much better) and Brady managed to survive long enough to become an outlier.

The Patriot's schedule is pretty brutal early (there is a very real chance they start 0-4 or 1-3), and I could see calls for the new kid (i.e. Corral) by midseason.

Man these video’s don’t make me feel good about our receivers either

That seemed to be a reoccurring theme in a lot of the preseason breakdowns I've watched - we don't have speed.  I honestly think a lot of it is just because we weren't running real plays.  So much was made about Reich's mesh concepts after the hire, and that, when run properly creates separation by design...  what I saw run during the preseason at times looked like mesh concepts with what should've been rubs built-in, but they were so widely spaced out, they didn't create any additional separation.  I just hope it was schematic and our guys were just loafing a bit because they didn't want to show too much...  hell, even O'Sullivan talked about how crappy Theilen's routes and effort were and he is a renowned route runner.  I'm hoping that's all it was...  also, I think we'll look quite different now with a healthy Chark, Laviska, and now Smith-Marsette.

What about TMJ? Is he healthy yet as well or still out?

That's the point I didn't watch it, don't care to watch it. Just tired of seeing us discuss a QB who is not even a NFL level backup right now.

Actually, yes, he is NFL caliber. If he can keep his head on straight.

I believe that is why people keep harping on him. It is because he does have genuine potential.

By the way, Chad Kelly is currently in some strangers house watching a strangers television set, as we speak.

    • Sure, but if that happens, the draft pick will look even worse for the Falcons, as instead of getting them a player that could win now, they took someone who ran off their prize FA QB after 3 years and now looks like they may be a bust. Penix was one of the more polished QB's in the draft and would have probably been a rookie starter if taken by someone with an uncertain starting QB, if he's not ready to step in and play well in year 3, then it's probably not going to work out. So the only way it helps their contract situation, is if it doesn't work out as they plan, but if it does, they're going to cut Cousins after 2 years and then have to give Penix a monster deal the following offseason.
