Fox and Hurney will beg Richardson to play out the last year in Fox's contract. They will go big in FA, and they will draft a QB too..

With an uncapped season ahead, I think Richardson will give them 1 more year with the ultimatum.

No Panther head coach has ever coached a season in the final year of his contract. That's never happened before. So that's kind of a non-starter. He'll either get another long-term extension that will make us riot or he'll (very likely) be fired on January 4th.

I can't see myself not selling my 2010 PSLs if Fox and company back with another mediocre QB we get from a trade or whatever.

I think Fox is a an OK coach. It really worries me about his obsession with Jake. It seems the whole team has some sort of obsession with Jake. They all want him to be the guy throwing the ball for some reason even though he can't. Get Jake out of Carolina and it should be a fresh start/ eye opener for everyone who is confused, hopefully.

I honestly don't mind Fox and Hurney coming back as long as Jake stays on the bench or retires. Give Matt Moore the reigns or sign a good FA to start and draft a QB for the future (like Pike).

To those that are certain that they'll be back, why has there been zero movement on a contract extension with Fox? All of the other coaches whose contracts are up next season had their contracts extended this season, EXCEPT for Fox and a few other coaches that are likely to be fired in a couple of weeks. Can you try to explain that?

i mean i don't want to sound like an apologist because everyone knows there's no one as fatalistic as me but in the midst of the jake collapse and his horrible mismanagement of that, he's patched together a pretty good defense with spare parts, and him and ron meeks have coached up one hell of a secondary.

on top of that, they might have a pretty stout DT rotation next year, which is something no one quite expected, and they're really just a couple of plays from playing for a playoff spot.

I am not to excited about the idea of fox staying, But I think its like Fiz says.

The team is not very far from being able to win it all.

I can see Richardson having a very stern conversation with Fox letting him know he better pull it off or his ass is gone- Hurney too.

also the best thing possible for matt moore, if he comes out and builds on the minnesota game, is to maintain as much stability as possible. it won't do him any good at all to get rid of the coaching staff if he finished the season strong. you just make the strong decision that he is the QB heading into next year and you let him train the entire offseason to get ready for that moment.

Yep. And with a legitimate QB at the helm, they have managed to stay competitive. I don't like Fox's "everything's alright" demeanor out there, but he has coached a cgood defense this year with a bunch of nobodies.

Stout DT rotation? Name a single stout defensive tackle that will be there next year. Kemo won't be here. Thomas probably won't be either. Lewis is below average as are Tyler and Leonard. And Hayden sucks.

Just because we'll have a lot of defensive tackles doesn't mean they'll be worth anything.

And, honestly, who cares about PLAYING for a playoff spot. Fox/Hurney have been here for eight years. We should be past the point of being happy if we were able to be competing for a playoff spot. And that's just a fantasy anyway since we're one of a very small number of teams that's already been eliminated from playoff contention.
