Curious to all the Fox hate.. ?

I don't mean this as inflammatory - just really dont see/understand why so many hate Fox?

I see many shouting at the wind - but I see no one saying 'why' they hate him. Saying 90% of the Huddle does no critical thinking and are sheep to follow the other 10%...

Why does that 10% think Fox should be fired?

The only thing I can criticize him for is keeping with Jake as long as he did. Horrible mistake in hindsight...but fire him? The best coach we ever had?

First I submit that without argument Fox is the best we have had. Easily beating out Seiffert and Capers.

How many coaches out there would be better? Who could we get? I mean - you cant say 'Fire Fox' and not suggest a replacement.

Cowher is thrown up as much as bile..."look! he is our saviour! he would have benched Jake before the Arizona game last year and we would have won!"

Others are thrown out. They make as much sense as Campbell or Vick as our QB.

IF we got Cowher - I don't know that it would be an upgrade. I think Fox is as good if not better.

Thats IF we got him - I've not read one thing saying where he wants to go. He can live in NC but that means squat...just ask John Wall.

Ok - so hopefully we have established there are few better out there - but for those who still wish to fry the guy...let me ask again...why?

"Well Cat - I'll tell ya. He should have benched Jake earlier"

A: Totally a given. I wonder when? 0-3 start? Game 1? Not even Game 1? Last year? Hmmm, we went 12-4 so last year is just DUMB to say. Oh, during the playoffs slaughter? hmmm, maybe. DARN hard to bench your guy after that season. After the first game? Better - I can see that too.

"Cat - you goober...Fox should be fired because..."

A: Because what? What else did he do? History? Playoffs, superbowl appearance...?

1. I know injuries arent an excuse. We got 12 guys on IR. Both tackles. Defense shredded. Maybe saint Cowher could do more, but seriously guys?

2. Fox FIXES things..problems in one game RARELY pop up again. The only thing I see that still needs a special touch is special teams. Oline? Friggin fantastic..stopping the run? amazing.

I dont think you guys give credit when due. Really.

3. Respect...wow...the players smashed the Vikings in the mouth and the Giants in the ass. Let the media whine and cry about 'whats wrong with Minnesota and NYG" and not own up that the Panthers owned them both. FOX got these players, these second teamers palying their arses off.

"But Cat..what about Hurney!? He should go to! I mean seriously...no draft picks, Peppers, giving Jake $$"

A: I hear this on the radio. I mean, the HUDDLE knows the deal made with Jake FREED up money that we couldnt spend because of the Peppers deal right?? Jake WAS our starting QB - he did GREAT job until last game of last year...geez- hardly a reason to crucify him. Getting rid of '1st round picks' for the guys we GOT?? Awesome - at a hole lot less money. Hurney is a genius...and I have total faith he will fix the Peppers situtaion.

Im SO glad Fox is back...WE owe him so much.

Alright - now for those I offended by calling sheep - or that I just made you mad for backing out best coach evuh...I apologize - seriously....but put your hate aside and tell US why you think Fox should go...

Well let's see, lost to the Bills, started 0 - 3, and refused to bench the quarterback who was single-handedly ruining our season.

I see many shouting at the wind - but I see no one saying 'why' they hate him. Saying 90% of the Huddle does no critical thinking and are sheep to follow the other 10%...

Someone else doesn't do critical thinking.

Why does that 10% think Fox should be fired?

See above.

Yes. The best coach we ever had... out of the great slew we have had, congratulations.

First I submit that without argument Fox is the best we have had. Easily beating out Seiffert and Capers.

Again... Capers (48 - 80 career head coaching record) was not a good coach and Seiffert was horrible here.

How many coaches out there would be better? Who could we get? I mean - you cant say 'Fire Fox' and not suggest a replacement.

...about everyone HAS been suggesting Cowher, or other names.. I don't know where you got the idea that we were just saying fire Fox without a nominee to replace him.

Cowher is thrown up as much as bile..."look! he is our saviour! he would have benched Jake before the Arizona game last year and we would have won!"

Um, yeah. Why are you mocking that point? Look what Jake did and how Matt Moore IS doing. LOL HE WUOLD HAVE BENCHED JAKE LOL

Others are thrown out. They make as much sense as Campbell or Vick as our QB.

I'm sure there are plenty of coordinators or coaches that could have produced what Fox did for us this year.

IF we got Cowher - I don't know that it would be an upgrade. I think Fox is as good if not better.

Are you kidding me? Superbowl win, division titles, overall record, his team's reputations alone.. Give me a break.

Thats IF we got him - I've not read one thing saying where he wants to go. He can live in NC but that means squat...just ask John Wall.

Yes, if only John Wall had his kids in school in the area, already went to NC State, had already proven himself on a professional level, and HI, there was already a report stating Cowher would prefer to coach in Carolina or Tampa.

Ok - so hopefully we have established there are few better out there - but for those who still wish to fry the guy...let me ask again...why?

What are you talking about? Of course this season, and YEAH AFTER 1 GAME HURR HURR. How about before Jake manages to remove himself from the game by breaking a finger.

How about never winning back to back seasons, or when you have a team loaded with talent finishing 8-8. And uh, are you serious about the problems never occur again in #2? I don't know about you but I saw a ton of awful QB play with multiple turnovers in multiple games. And you're correct about special teams, the fact that Crossman is still around boggles my mind.

Hurney has us in one poo of a situation right now. If it wasn't for him, this cutting Jake situation wouldn't be costing us this much, we'd have probably 1 or 2 other big name free agents if Pep had walked/traded, with all the extra cap room, and perhaps we'd still have a first round pick this year. Jake was never GREAT, average at best. I'm guessing you didn't recall his awful performance against the Raiders last year.

Alright - now for those I offended by calling sheep - or that I just made you mad for backing out best coach evuh...I apologize - seriously....but put your hate aside and tell US why you think Fox should go...

Fox's biggest mistake was holding onto Delhomme for so long. He has some other questionable decisions (crossman), but the team right now looks really strong. The Meeks hiring was a good choice, and so far it seems Fox hasn't offered his input into the defensive schemes because it's actually working. You could probably say that if Fox hadn't f**ked up with the "Delhomme is not done yet" project, he would be on his way to two consecutive winning seasons and maybe more. I'm not ready to say "fire Fox" just yet. The only thing that would change my mind before next season is if he announces Delhomme as the starter going into 2010.

no back to back winning seasons.

Can only win on an easy schedule

Stuck with delhomme too long

piss poor half time adjustments throughout his entire tenure in carolina, specifically when we are winning going into the half.

Ultra conservative play calling

"it is what it is"... i hate that phrase so much.

Having said that much, yes he has been the best coach in panther's history. He does have an over-all winning record, and I respect the hell out of him. In my opinion its one of those situations where both coach and organization need a change in order to succeed. I appreciate everything he has done for the franchise but i think it's time that we both moved on.

    • After Bountygate and the information that came out on the Saints owners shielding pedophile priests in New Orleans it will forever be the Saints numero uno for me. FUG THE SAINTS! I hope this is just the beginning of a long term period of suffering for that shitty organization run by even shittier human beings. #2.Pats/Belicheat #3. Falcons (Mike Vick years then Matt Ryan/Julio running it up) Ryan pooping his pants and 28-3 def makes my bad days always better just thinking of those. #4 Pretty much any franchise fan base thats obnoxious Steelers, Eagles, Bills, Jets, Giants, Cowboys, etc.
    • Thank God DM used that #8 pick on a bona fide WR1 and not some bum pass rushing prospect like Stewart or someone else. I believe Tet is legit WR1 material and going forward will be our long term answer at that position since we desperately were in need of one once they traded away DJ Moore.  Tet could possibly end up even being better long term than someone who I respect a ton as a WR in Moore. Evans has been a pleasant surprise and great TE/FB depth piece going forward who could make the most of his opportunities.  Any good offense worth a damn in the NFL has 3 TEs that can do multiple things and being scared by Ian Thomas play for years should makes us all appreciate what Evans is quietly doing as a ROOKIE at one of the hardest positions to learn at the pro level.  Keep cooking DM. This season is not over obviously but seeing some growth out of young talent finally is a breathe of fresh fuggin air for once.
    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
