Before everyone gets too excited about Moore...

Do we actually know for a fact that he will be starting next season? I mean, if Fox is 100% confirmed to be back this season (which most likely will be the case), he may still be committed to Delhomme to a point will there may not be a competition even though he may say "there is always competition to make our players better."

I am just saying, before everyone jumps to conclusions and assumes Moore will be the starting QB on opening day, we might want to see what Fox does first.

By the way, I know I may sound like Captain Obvious and there has been several discussions on this already but I figure I would bring everyone down to level 1

This has been said by many (myself inlcuded) for weeks. This is the main reason I am concerned about Fox returning.

With Moore as the starter, I would be fine with Fox coming back....we have a team like we saw the last 4 games of the season.

I know it has been discussed, I just been seeing quite a few posters that make assumptions that Moore will be the starter such as "We need a #2 for Moore."

...and it would be idiotic to send Delhomme packing due to the fact that we already have to pay the man, and he knows our offense. (He also hands the ball off better than anyone we can bring in - knowing the audibles and what-not). Bringing in a newbie isn't going to help us much next year because it takes time to learn the system.

Yeah it is scary to think Fox will still have Jake as #1 going into camp. I just hope JR isn't stupid enough to let that happen.

How do you know Jake wasn't starting based on pressure from the big cat? It's possible Fox was just being a good minion and taking the heat.

I'll put it simple. Jake is beloved by the city of Charlotte, hell, the states of NC and SC because he is a good guy and I'd love to name him Godfather of my kids one day.

But my QB? Hell no. And most of the Carolinas will echo this same feeling for years to come. I believe it was said best by someone on here a few weeks ago. We can't say "Jake Delhomme looking like Weinke". Instead its "Jake Delhomme throwing like Jake Delhomme." He is the staple of a bad QB. He's done. Gimme Moore at the position. (see what I did there?)

We still pay him the same if we cut him too. We should go ahead and cut him for doing nothing than pay him to possibly come back on the field and hurt our team again.

Addition by subtraction.

It seems rather clear that when #17 is on the field he actually hinders the team. If we have to pay $12 million just to see that he doesn't throw another pick or lose us another game then do it.

    • I'm probably one of those posters, but I make those posts because there are too many things going on that don't make sense. For instance, how does a RB that does something that hasn't been done in 14 years immediately get reverted back to 2nd string, and it takes a leadership council to make him the starter when he's averaging 3x the YPC? Your average fan shouldn't be screaming that for 2 weeks before the coach sees it. And that's one of many.  What you're seeing is frustration that we could be better, that we should be better, if our owner, FO, and coaches could do things that are so painfully obvious to even the most basic fan
    • Cowboys. Patriots. Couldn't ask for two bigger villains.
    • I think we're all struggling with what things are right now and what they have been. It's like getting ready to have bandages removed after a long period of injury. The healing, the new growth, they aren't going to be pretty, there's going to be some ongoing issues for a while at best and there's every chance that we're going to have to go back into the bandage situation all over again. And that sucks. But it's also a place where maybe, just maybe, the recovery is going to finally start happening. The bad days will be getting behind us.  It's not going to happen this year, but I believe from what I see that this year is showing that improvement. We focus on the QB because that's what all the pundits focus on, because it's the flashiest and most heralded position on the field. No one wants to put out a tweet about how a center is holding down their job and anchoring a line. They rarely celebrate that blocking tight end or special teams gunner. That fourth CB on the depth chart? Not a mention. And yet, those guys are the kind that we've been building here, we're building the lunch pail guys AND finding some future stars.  Is Bryce one of them? Might be a cornerstone of the team in the future as the second QB, might somehow just show out to end the season. Might flame out like many expect. But if that uncertainty is all we concentrate on, we're just going to miserably look at this team and maybe miss out on some solid green shoots that are finally beginning to poke through into the sunlight.
