What will Matt Moore...

lol y would you be throwing that much anyways with the panthers??

yea our ratings r decreasing slightly but they aren't crap. I am blown away by them dropping the stats of kemo and lewis (two players that were already underrated, well kemo wasn't, he is one of the best run stoppers in the game despite being a 77 overall) but the change is minute at the best. Richard Marshall is entirely underrated, and Steve Smith poo ratings are fine because I still dominate with him regardless.

anyways my point is, you should not EVER be throwing over the middle to a DEEP post pattern, unless you have a 85 rating QB or higher. supplant those routes with a slot reciever (steve) running a DEEP post over the middle and SMART ROUTE him (by clicking down on the right stick in the receivers hot route). Even the panthers do that, but if you have a QB like a delhomme you get interceptions still, look back at the dolphins game when we are going down the field to score after the half and delhomo throws a pick cuz he throws a bad pass to the slot receiver (steve).

but they really need to fix the QB throws to receivers in stride by having inaccurate ones sail over or lower much more often than they fly on the opposite side of the field into the defenders hand.

yeah. I win my games by running, short play actions(usually with Smith hot routed to go deep in case of a miss-match), slants(where I can usually hit smith every time), and I keep an eye for blitzes.

an example is if their are 2 DB's lined up right on top of each other they are blitzing from the outside, so I hotroute the slot receiver to do a quick slant to the outside and it's usually a free completion. My biggest problem is you just can't make quick passes with this team. They usually sail out of bounds or over the receivers hands. You have to drop back and set your feet EVERY TIME. Sucks if they're blitzing because sometimes you get hit and the ball gets put up for grabs.

Another miss-match is if the corners are playing zone so they don't bump the receiver. If I see a corner backing off I hotroute a fade for smith or moose and can usually hit them with a quick pass to the outside.

The key to playing with the Panthers though is RUNNING. agreed there.

you ever play your friends with the panthers and then both deangelo AND j-stew get injured at the same time? happens almost every damn time I play.

Put more touch on your passes. Engineer better pass plays.

You should only be passing deep (20+ yards) to Moore or Smith and only on a mismatched route vs. protection. Occasionally you will also be able to get a deep TE on a corner route.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
