Steve Wilks is a better coach than Frank Reich. And it's not even close.

You're covering a couple of different things here that low expectations don't really have much to do with, but I'll try to answer.

Anytime you switch coaches, there's going to be some roster flux since you're going from one system to another. Sometimes that's only on one side of the ball. In our case, it's both.

You could also argue that it's probably a little more than usual because we're not going so much from an established pro-system to another. We're going from whatever the hell it was Matt Rhule had in place to actual pro schemes.

What did they think it was? Realistically, we don't know. We know what they said, but it's not reasonable given the situation we were in.

As far as Burns, that's no different than any other contract extension / franchise guy discussion that's had every year. Hell, we've had that before with Julius Peppers.

You are avoiding what I said and clearly ment, well for me i guess. It's a complete quality issue on my end. I already agreed about the roster flux, the CB depth they committed too isn't that for a GM who was here last year. Not understanding going from Wilks' oline scheme to a shotgun only scheme's effect on the team is just neglect. Both OTs are built for the opposite which Wilks, not rhule, already established vividly so going well away from that was an obvious poor choice, especially after taking Ickey in the top 10 last year and seeing him improve in said situation vs whatever the hell Rhule was doing.

There is no light to shine to make things look better yet. It looks like they are failing and getting desperate. It being only 6 games in makes that even more depressing and embarrassing. Even the improvement they have made so far looks woefully inadequate to match the moves they made. There is no way to justify this all as a rebuild now, it's just a clusterfug.

Corner depth is primarily an issue because we've got two starters who have trouble staying healthy. That's not a scheme issue and it is definitely going to need to be addressed.

On the line, McAdoo was an E-P guy while Frank and Brown are both West Coasters. WCO generally uses smaller, more agile guys and a zone blocking rather than big "bully" types. Summarized earlier where I think that went wrong.

Ekwonu is arguably the guy least suited to our current scheme unless there's some thought of moving him to guard, but then you have to get another left tackle.

As far as their outlook, I can't really say I see any "desperate" moves being made. Maybe if they were just taking whatever they could get for somebody like Burns I could see it, but we're not operating that way.

(nor should we be just six games in)

0-6 while looking for a #1 WR is completely normal stuff activity for a team not rebuilding...

We are not going to agree on any of this and I'm fine. I think you have a lot more disapointment headed your way. Those fools keep proving me right and it doesn't make me feel any better about their mess and failures.

We are rebuilding... always were.

Doesn't matter how they described it publicly. That's what's happening.

SF isn't built to win a SB. They are built to get into the playoffs and look like they need a better QB every year. Wilks' D is 3rd in scoring and 8th in yards vs 1st in both last year. Wilks is going to be sacrificed to get another year to find yet another QB. I feel bad for him honestly. He isn't good enough to actually succeed and he isn't bad enough to be the real problem yet he keeps getting used by everybody.

I'm thinking you're wrong here in each of your reasonings. SF is very much built to win a SB, rough patch that they are in notwithstanding.

But we'll know sometime around February.

Are you high? Sam D is a joke for a long time now and will be for the 49ers as well. Purdy needs to continue as their system QB to win as long as their talented defense can play like last season.

However, 49ers fans are clueless to for wanting Wilks fired. They need to blame Nick Bosa after getting his fat contract as a leader, he hasn't done crap other than a few pressured plays. I wouldn't have traded him to get all those picks they lost for trading up for Trey Area.

(Ummm, you get a Super Bowl ring even if you are the back-up QB...)

And I guess this week, we'll get to see how he does in SF. He's got some weapons there. And we're just sitting here at 0-6.

Yeah nothing has changed there since Jommy G failed to win one. It's an SSDD situation, good team with an obvious and on-going issue. I feel very confident in them not winning a SB this year, especially with a D taking a step back.

And he is hurt now. Kind of seems like a trend you could see if your nose wasn't all the way up to his sternum.

Oh so when he gets hurt and they loses, its time for them to upgrade in QB LOL. This show you are clueless. Purdy is the best system QB to play this game and i have them winning it all as long as Wilks figures out how to take advantage of the most talented defense to stop opponents from scoring so Purdy is not place in a position to save the team from behind which is NOT the task of a system QB, but guys like Brady or Mahomes to bring them back from the dead.

I NEVER said Sam D can win games EVER and is the dumbest mistake i can recall. Even worst then trading for Trey cause ghost passer will blow leads like butter. Old man Hoyer is sooo much better now then Sam ever could. Never liked the trade to bring him from the Jets in the first place and then pick up his 18 million option like a fool.

I would never say he's a "better" coach. But I think he was better for the Panthers. His style seemed to work. And we hadn't seen anything "work" in a long time.

That I agree! Our players respond to Wilks unlike past coaches where inspiration comes from the heart. Even Sam responds to it in a positive way which is strange for a guy who prefer passing to ghost. I am opek to taking Wilks back as HC but no way I want Sam back which the 49ers will witness soon enough.

I was never sold on Reich and told this forum he would be trash. The rebuttal is he is an offensive mastermind. Colts fans disagreed.

I desperately wanted Reid and was told on this forum he was poo while coaching McNabb.

Granted I also wanted McCarthy so not perfect.

Yes, Wilks is the better coach than our 0-7 HC but he isn’t the future. At the time and still I wouldn’t want to be stuck under his conservative BS. I mean he thought PJ was better than Darnold. Until his hand was forced. Rivera esque decision making.

However under Tepper we are now stuck with idiodic moves and dumb coaching, and I’d certainly take Wilks over this. I know we wouldn’t have 0 wins.

Confused on why anyone would take Sam D over anyone but PJ is very good backup that

PJ has beaten the 49ers and Colts already and will beat the Seahawks this Sunday. I liked him MUCH more than your Sam D all day. Wish we had kept him over Dalton as our back up.

lol PJ beat IND and SF?

PJ was 15-32, 178 yds and 1 int 0 tds vs the IND and 18-34, 192 yds and 2 ints 0 tds vs SF. That’s atrocious and yes Darnold would’ve done better.

In fact, when he was put in last year over PJ the team looked day and night.

As far as on other teams, with the other coaches, and the future of those players  neither is really more than a backup so it’s not that Darnold is ‘my guy’ but he is better than PJ.

Honestly I’d rather have an unknown low pick rookie showing what he has thrown in than either as a back up but if my hand was forced either or, it’d be Darnold.
