Well, maybe. One thing I would say is that if you use him too much, defenses will likely start taking cues and that might lead to less effectiveness and ultimately lead to bad things because it's too predictable.

I’m super sure that him on the field, at least making defenses think of his presence, adds a ripple that none of our other “just stay in front of them” players offer.

Yes, I believe that things can get worse.

AT is not the old and slow guy that some had made him out to be. We're not really taking advantage of Chark like we're supposed to. Mingo certainly showed signs of life today. Hurst isn't really being used effectively in my opinion, and Tremble if nothing else can catch passes too. Now, of course you can blame it all on Bryce, but I'd say most of these issues come down to coaching and play calling.

We're overusing Thielen IMO. We're trying to use him like he's a YAC guy and he just isn't. He's basically possession receiver at this point in his career. He can still get open but he's not a guy that's going to make a lot happen after the catch.

Chark is primarily a deep threat specialist. I just don't think he's a great pairing with Bryce Young. Not unless we can establish more threats to fee up opportunities for him to get one on one deep.

I don't know why we gave Hurst that contract or why fans expecting him to be a great threat. He is what he is. A low level starter/good #2 TE. What we've gotten out of him is basically what we should've expected. This is who he is.

Mingo does seem to be improving.

What is like to see out of Bryce given what we're currently doing and what he shown capable of executing is better ball placement. Watch Purdy tonight. His arm is average at best, but his anticipation and ball placement are both ELITE. He hits guys in stride and puts the ball where they don't lose any momentum so they can get that YAC. Way too often guys are having to sacrifice YAC ability just to secure the catch. Bryce has to have better anticipation and ball placement because he's never gonna have a cannon.

    • Care to elaborate why you disagree? We kicked the ball off 3 times and we kept the Browns to starting field position of the 22, 27, and 10 (would have been 21 before a penalty). All 3 of those are successes with the modern kickoff rule.
    • Its August so obviously quality options are not there. The question is whether any improvement can be made to the bottom of the depth chart.
    • NFL has a huge amount of parity.  The talent level between most NFL starters outside of the top 5 to 10 guys at a position is very comparable.  2020 worst teams Jacksonville Jaguars - 1-15 (worst record in NFL) New York Jets - 2-14 Cincinnati Bengals - 4-11-1 Atlanta Falcons - 4-12 Houston Texans - 4-12 Carolina Panthers - 5-11 Detroit Lions - 5-11 Philadelphia Eagles - 4-11-1 Los Angeles Chargers - 7-9 Denver Broncos - 5-11 2024 Worst teams New York Giants - 3-14 (tied for worst) Cleveland Browns - 3-14 (tied for worst) Tennessee Titans - 3-14 (tied for worst) New England Patriots - 4-13 Carolina Panthers - 5-12 Jacksonville Jaguars - 4-13 Las Vegas Raiders - 4-13 New York Jets - 5-12 Chicago Bears - 5-12 Arizona Cardinals - 8-9 Bengals, Texans, Lions, Eagles, Broncos and the Jags have all made the the playoffs in the last 3 years. What I'm saying is it's stupid to argue when team is the worst when there is so much parity and the system allows quick turnarounds.
