it should be on the front page

whoever the fella in the bottom right is is just foolish, seriously he thinks matt ryan is the MVP of the leauge over his own teamate turner, because "without ryan turner would be facing 9 man fronts"

so because ryan is good enough to keep the defense from completley concentrating on the run(which alot of average QBs do) he is more valuable to his team than the guy donig all the dirty work?

have you ever heard they argument that an MVP caliber RB would be nothing without his quarterback?

ryan is having an excellent year and looks to be a promising QB that could be one of the best if he keeps improving but COME ON, I've never heard such ignorance, and he argues this with a former NFL RB

oh and I don't think deangelo will ever be considered because he splits carries, even though he at least deserves consideration

Im thinking more of a Manning as MVP, 9 game win streak, basically carried the weight of his team on his shoulders to get back to playoff this season when they looked down and out of early. Rivers is a great contender but I do not know if he has the popularity or the stats that can reward him the trophy... its more a popularity contest then anything sometimes

Check the stats part.

Here are a few pretty meaningful stats from this year for Rivers

#1 QB Rating

#1 TDs (tie Brees)

#1 Yards Per Attempt

#1 1st Down %

#1 TD/INT Ratio (amongst leading QBs, 6 less than Brees)

I would say that he has the stats, but not the Name.

Manning was playing on a bum knee the whole year and may not have the stats that Rivers does....but just consider that the Chargers needed a complete collapse by the Broncos just to make the playoffs in a god awful division. The Colts shook off how many injuries to the OL and never had a running game either, and won 9 straight games down the stretch. I don't see how anyone but Manning can win this year.

Ummmm, bum knee, you mean like tearing the ACL in the playoffs last year then coming back and having a, so far, career year?

It is not about who makes the playoffs, it is about who is the most valuable player to their team during the season. Rivers was the best QB in the NFL this year and the team barely got into the playoffs, you tell me which team needed their QB more?

Manning missed all of training camp after surgery just 6 weeks before the season. He had no reps in the preseason either.

It is not about who makes the playoffs, it is about who is the most valuable player to their team during the season. ?

If that's the case then, you could argue Drew Brees should be the MVP. Which defeats the purpose of the award.

The Colts did. You think they would have had a shot at any type of playoff run without Manning? This is a team that was banged up on both sides of the ball, and ended up winning 12 games. And like I said, Rivers' team wouldn't be in the playoffs if not for them having a crappy division. 8 wins < 12. Rivers should have been a Pro Bowler but giving the guy the MVP of the entire league over Manning makes no sense.

Manning did have a great year, however I don't think that the Chargers win 4 games without Rivers this year, I don't feel that same way about the Colts. It's just an opinion.

Jake is my fav for MVP. When he came back to this team, the team changed. His presence changed this team. Confidence was back. Leadership was back. The heart of this team was back. Jake may not have the stats, he wasn't the best QB this year. But there is no doubt about what his return did for this team. Think of what it would have been like if he hadn't been here this year. If there is a more valuable player in this league, I'm not sure who it would be.

    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
    • The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
