NFL VP of Officiating admits the refs missed a key call in NFC Championship game

During the on-air portion of the "Official Review" segment of NFL Network's Total Access, V.P. of officiating Mike Pereira admitted that a flag should have wiped out the third-quarter interception thrown by Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, due to a low hit applied by Saints defensive end Bobby McCray. (MDS has more on the non-call right here.)

It's possible that referee Pete Morelli swallowed the whistle because he had called a roughing the passer penalty only a few plays earlier, extending the drive. But Pereira explained that the driving of Favre into the ground was "poster-child" evidence of a personal foul, despite the fact that FOX's Troy Aikman strongly disagreed with the call. So there should have been no need for a make-up call -- especially since the hit to Favre's lower legs was obvious.

That was not the only one. Rest of the Article HERE

pussy post son....keep looking for excuses boy

dude don't start any crap with me. Did i give an opinion on the issue? Its the offseason for the Panthers. I didn't care who won. My team isn't in it, so when i come across interesting football news, im going to post it. If you don't like it I really don't care. but get off my back.

It was obvious then and it's obvious now. What, does anyone actually think that the aints won because they're the better team?

no idiot, we won because we scored more points than the opposition; try it sometime

Maybe we could just dig a hole below sea level and move Charlotte there. Then when it inevitably floods we'll act shocked and become the next "feel good" story. That way we can hit opposing qbs low and draw pass interference on balls thrown 15 yards past the wr.

hahahahaha, jealousy morphs into rage and name calling....classic

Wasn't it obvious that the Vikings weren't going to get an opportunity to win that game. The final drive had what 2 or 3 questionable calls and even under review weren't overturned. The phantom PI fall. Over his head and barely, if any contact. Good thing about AFN I get to watch the game again. What a shame. God forbid that they don't give them the Super Bowl too.

But I am sure the Saints have already been given the green light from the referee assoc. to go after Peyton, flop after missing a pass and run into receivers and get favorable calls.

This only solidifies my grown hatred of the Saints. God rest the souls that lost their lives in Katrina but, how many years do we have to hear about the "Poor Saints" and how they saved a city.

It wasn't some freak of nature. Hurricanes have been hitting cities in the gulf long before Katrina hit. If you can't deal with the catstrophy the LEAVE. I didn't see New Orleans giving N.C. any love in 1996 When 2 hurricanes Bertha and Fran hit Wilimington.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
