Top 8 Teams couldnt sign Peppers anyway...

That means if he was too be let go by the Panthers than he can cross off:

Colts, Jets, Chargers, Raven ( rumored team ), Saints, Cowboys, Vikings, Cardinals.

Still leaves the other rumored Falcons and Pats. I think he will be a Patriot for sure. Considering that team is on the DECLINE, let him go. The only one that would hurt would be the Falcons, but if he wants to pull a Brett Favre on us, that will just be easy ammo when he comes back home...

Im not upset about pep leaving, im more upset about not being able to get anything for him...

The rule will restrict the final eight teams in the playoffs from signing free agents. The final four teams shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract except for players who acquired their status by being cut or were on the final four team when their contract expired. Playoff teams five thru eight get a break to sign one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 and an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following years.

There is a mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each one of their own unrestricted free agents who sign with another club as long as they don't spend more than what their own lost player received from his new club.

I doubt any team is going to lost a player who will be payed the same or more than Peppers lol! I still say Patriots will be the team to grab him. The team i hate the most beyond our division rivals, sometimes even more. Might make it easier to hate Peppers..

Yeah, but teams 5 thru 8 CAN sign any UFA, not 8.

he will end up in San Diego....you guys ever been to San Diego? A no brainer.

San Diego would be what we like to call a top 8 team. He'll only end up there if we trade him there which would take a heck of a lot of picks considering they don't pick until the bottom of the 1st round.

Not true Uni.

The Chargers have 4 or 5 players that they could lose to FA, and be able to sign Peppers. It has to be a highly paid player that they would lose, but the Chargers will have that ability.

Merriman

Vincent Jackson

Malcolm Floyd

Darren Sproles

and

McNeill

While Sproles likely won't top the amount to be able to get Pep, the others certainly could.

All in all, SD won't go after him, unless he gives them a super deal, and he has that ability.

I have a hard time believing New England for the sheer fact that they just traded away their stud defensive end to the Raiders last year because he was getting old(same age as Peppers.)

IF, and that's a big IF Carolina let's Peppers walk for nothing, I can honestly see him getting out in free agency and slowly realizing no one wants to make him the highest paid defensive player in the league like he somehow believes he deserves.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
