The problem isn't the OL, it goes much deeper

I mostly just stalk the boards and don't post much but seeing people spam this narrative is starting to annoy me.

I’m tired of people saying we have a bad offensive line. Just last year, we were talking about the same group possibly being the best in franchise history. Sure, we’ve had some injuries, but it wasn’t that long ago we were trotting out Michael Jordan, Cam Erving, Matt Paradis, and John Miller out as our starters. The problem (the EXTREMELY predictable problem) is that we changed the entire scheme to fit the #1 overall draft pick and there are severe limitations in what we can with him. Our entire offensive line is filled with huge maulers meant to pound the ball down people’s throats and power football. We drafted the quarterback with LITERALLY the WORST physicals in the HISTORY of football. I said then that we would have to design our entire roster around his limitations, not his strengths. Defenses stack the box because he poses absolutely 0 threat throwing deep.

This isn’t a chest-pounding, "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" post; rather, it’s to say that I (22 years old with 0 experience at all in coaching or managing football), and many others, saw this coming from a mile away. You are not going to convince me that an entire organization of people who dedicate their lives to this sport actually looked at the construction of our roster, the history and culture of our franchise, and the available prospects… and picked Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It just makes no sense at all. This isn't even a dig at Bryce, he would be fine with a team that fit his strengths perfectly. We just simply weren't, aren't, and never SHOULD be that team. That isn't Panther football.

TL;DR: David Tepper can go fugg himself and his franchise. I love our history and I’ve always been proud to call myself a fan no matter how good we were, but this guy has stripped us of everything I cherished and football isn’t important enough to blindly support the ghost of a team I once loved. FUGG HIM!!!!

I agree with your logic about the Oline not fitting the scheme, but this scheme was not built on Bryce young being the QB. This is Frank's scheme and I dont care about the OC saying he help build it because its the same crappy scheme Frank been running in Indy. The QB play and line was bad then just like now. The zone blocking does not fit the personal and it didn't matter what QB was behind it. The scheme was in place before the draft. Then they drafted the best QB they believe could run it. They didn't create it around Bryce. This is why tepper and other coaches asked frank to implement alabama offense a couple of weeks ago, because Frank's offense wasn't benefiting Bryce.

“Panthers Football” is dictated by the owner of team. That owner picked Bryce. That’s just something you boys are going to have to accept.

And we are the worst sports organization on the continent since he became owner and went away from our traditional team values. Do you think he’s done a good job as owner? The only positive stretch since he’s bought us was when we put Wilks as our HC and went back to traditional Panther football.

losing both starting guards also isn't ideal. Brady wasn't anything special but he was solid and underrated and Corbett was still coming off ACL rehab. Zavala and Mays are pure garbage as depth

Ickey's been struggling all year long and yet our coaching never helped scheme either a TE and/or RB help to his side.

Bryce needs to learn how to navigate the pocket and work on his footwork all offseason long with new coaching staff. there's been plenty of time during rare occasions when the O-line actually forms a clean pocket, but Bryce either drops too deep and/or bails out of the pocket too quick. his pocket awareness is good awful and fumbles whenever there's a gust of wind

OP must be a State fan.

The whole league has gone to a majority shotgun.  Including the Eagles who run it more than us.

being 5’10 in shotgun has nothing to do with them looking like one of the pads in a DL drill

Being top 5 in the league in pass attempts has nothing to do with our run blocking offensive linemen struggling in pass protection? And quite frankly, I don’t care what the rest of the league is doing. We showed it was possible to win running the ball with Wilks last year and instead ditched it for something we aren’t built to do just because it’s trendy.

Maybe they just suck at pass protection

“we showed what we could do with Wilks”

there is a reason no one else in the league is doing that.  Running 100 times game  in 12 man.  Always putting a TE over to help your LT in pass pro because he can’t pass pro.

Remmers, Michael Jordan and all the other slappys we had at OL would look good in a 8 game sample of doing that too.  Eventually teams will catch on and good run defenses then it shows.  See the Tampa game at the end last year.

There is no scheme fix for looking like a tackling dummy or sled.  Heck, ain’t a scheme out there that is going to magically cause you to even put your hands up and on someone as a OL

Blaming a Scheme.  That a lot of the league has moved towards.
For a OL struggling to barely get hands on guys.  And only time looked good in pass pro was with help from the TE.

Is about as Stupid as someone trying to tell you Mike Remmers was actually a good OT.  It was only the scheme.  If we had the 2nd TE helping him all game in the Super Bowl.  He would’ve looked a lot better.
