Well shucks, mostly we just toak like at when we got chew in our mouths or cuz we got them summer teeth, ya know some are there and some or gone.

I don't have a southern accent...but I moved around quite a bit around the time I was learning to speak, so that's probably why. My wife sounds like she could skin a deer though.

If you are doing research for a dilaect coach for a film let them know Hollywood has NEVER gotten the Carolinaian speech right.

Charleston is vastly different than Asheville. Go up past Boone and they sound totally different than folks in Alamance or Travelers Rest.

If you grew up in and around Charleston and talked to someone out side of the Carolina's they wouldnn't know you were from SC.

Also, any politcians that are over 50 have that Southern aristocratic twang. Anybody who has grown up here knows exactly what I'm talking about.

i've never heard any accent like the one this guy had in college. he was from somewhere in north east north carolina. that swamp talk sounds real funny.

I was just wondering because I've never been to either state of Carolina or the east coast for that matter. I'll be down there for our Panthers' Super Bowl parade next year though. Which food is better, the New Orleans Cajun style or the authentic Carolina BBQ?
