Good article about how efficient our Passing Game is:

And Smith and Moose still put up numbers like they did. Cool

Well the third leading receiver on the team was DeAngelo. So that should tell you that it was Smitty and Moose and that's about it.

If by efficient you mean fortunate smith can catch passes in triple coverage, and jump higher than everyone else.

Superman does make mere mortals look good.

You make it sound like a bad thing. I can't understand why anyone would belittle an offense with such a weapon. When you know that your guy can do the things that Smith does all while protecting the ball from being intercepted, it isn't a high risk move and should be attempted several times a game. Especially at the end of the game in a clutch situation.

If I were Jake not only would I be chucking it to Smith in crunch time, I would be doing it more often not less. Youd be stupid not to!!

did anyone watc brady last year? the anoited one had everyone slobbering all over his junk when the threw it to moss, even when moss had to bail him out completely (maimi game where he underthrew it, moss double covered makes a 1 handed catch). you find ways to get the ball to playmakers, when they can do what moss and smitty can, at times you ask them to make the play. when brady did it he was poraised, when jake does he is belittled. this is not to say these 2 qbs are in the same ballpark, but when it comes to throwing it up and asking for the wr to make a play, one is a genious, the other is an idiot thats bailed out.

i like moose, jarret, king, dante, and the rest, but if there is 1 guy i want to throw to on the team its smitty. i know he is gona fight for it like none of the others, and has the skill to make the unbelievable catch. i also know if i get it to him, he can make the 1 or 2 moves for a td. can moose, or any other WR or TE do what he can after the catch no.

i anything we abandon smitty when we are in the lead.

No one was belittling the offense.

I bet you the game plan isn't to go out there and chuck the ball into double and triple coverage and pray smith comes down with a miracle, and if it is then that's even worse.

If Jake was actually accurate those miracles wouldn't be miracles at all, they would be touch downs.

It's pretty bad when even moose has to cut off his route to come back to the football.

Of course you should throw smith the ball, no one said not too.

So all that "i would throw it to smith blablabla is laughable".

Other receivers on this team can play too if given a chance, Jarrett has caught damn near everything tossed his way(which isn't much), and mostly on big downs such as 3rd.

Jake locks in on Smith too much which is a huge problem, just refer to 2005, and ask Seattle.

Which is a good thing to look into considering were in the playoffs again this year, ya know, a time of the year where one man will not magically bail you out every time.

Smith can be shutout by a good defense. If we make it far into the playoffs Jake will have to make plays to other targets, as we will face teams that can stack the box and double smith effectively.

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
