In the first quarter we had them all confused. It seemed we kinda let off a little as the game progressed. I love seeing R Marshall getting sacks. We showed a lot of different looks for teams to have to prepare for now. I thought last game we had more defensive formations than all season, especially in the nickel formations.

we need our starting DT's healthy so they can help open up wholes in the middle for blitzing..it was too easy for Brees to just step up a bit for those outside blitzes..the only way those might work consistently imo is if you always blitz on the side that peppers is on since that side will be focused on him and not a blitz..

They didn't let off, but the blitzes stopped getting to the QB. It seems the later in the game, the less effective the Panthers blitzes are.

There could be a correlation there. While lacking depth at DT, as the game went on they weren't as effective. Brees stepped up quite a few times on four man rushes when the outside rush was effective but inside wasn't penetrating.

Anderson is fast and has good coverage skills. I always thought he was about equal to Diggs, but with very different strengths. Diggs is very good against the run and average in coverage, Anderson is very good in coverage but average against the run. If for some horrible reason we can't resign Davis, I could see Anderson moving to the weak side then.

Actually, that is quite an overstatement. Anderson is OK against the pass and terrible against the run.

I think the biggest reason that he is on the team still is because the FO drafted him. He has shown nothing as a starter.

Connor is the guy that will take Diggs spot.

Our blitzes weren't very effective when Kemo and Lewis were in there. We are just not a very good blitzing team. I think our linebackers have all of 5 sacks this year (Davis has 4).

Man we RARELY blitzed when they was in there

We didnt blitz against Warner that much, just let him throw. We didn't blitz against Rodgers, just let him throw. Culpepper, Ryan.. all of them, we rarely blitzed

Sunday was the most we ever blitzed this season

Anderson usually gets playing time against Pass Happy teams. At VT he played Whip Linebacker, basically a hybrid between a DB and LB. His coverage skills should be above average for a Linebacker, and coming from the Bud Foster defense, he is a very effective edge blitzer. If we played in a 3-4 he would be perfect for the pass rushing LB. All in all, he's a decent player, but to play in our scheme he'll have to bulk up a little more, but that might compromise his speed.

    • lol this is hilarious after those stays with this roster man what…..you gotta be joking right so you don’t see little man miss about 2-3 easy big plays a game? Man IMO Canales would look like a hellava offensive coach if he had a QB who could deliver on time and accurate passes all around the field. The numbers would look good if he’d could actually get the ball to the open wrs on this team. We have talent all over the field ilthose numbers should be much much better if you can’t see it you’re scared to admit the truth. He consistently has missed WRs who should either have 30+ yards or TDs added to their resume this season.  He may get better but since he hasn’t lived in the gym yet and formed and developed his NFL body his weak arm hasn’t gotten stronger the competition has gotten faster and better. It worked it college it doesn’t work well in the pros. I’ve been furious with Bryce for that reason he had to see he doesn’t have all them physical tools as other QBs so he should bulk up to his maximum ability to add a little muscle to his frame which could definitely help his throws get there a little better. You don’t remember Horn Jr having to slow down and turn around a couple weeks ago because the ball took forever to get to him while he waited wide open that ball hits him in stride he’s able to put that defender in the got dam blender and score. It’s just another example of Bryce’s arm  not being able to zip passes to his wide receivers but with all that said it’s clear he’s not the guy. He a couple ticks below average this roster is ready to put up points shut down opponents were just not able to run the full playbook bc lil man can’t sling it all around the yard it’s clear as day.
    • I have to admit, I was on the Trey Lance wagon.  While he's obviously not ever going to be a franchise QB1, I'm still curious about him as a bridge QB/QB2.
    • They're similar in that rushing the passer really isn't their forte. They can impact the pass rush by collapsing the pocket and opening up opportunities for others and sometimes get the sack themselves but sacking the QB isn't what either does best. Jenkins also had the benefit of having MUCH better edge rushers who prevented the QB from escaping the pocket to the outside. Rookie Peppers had 12 sacks on one side and Rucker had 10 on the other. I honestly put them roughly equal as pass rushers. They're not sack monsters but they definitely impact the QB.
