How big is a Birthday, really?

The Situation: It's my girlfriend's brithday tomorrow.

The Question: Under any circumstance, is it forgivable to not see your girlfriend on her birthday? What if you take her to dinner the next day?

The Factors:

1.) Tomorrow my gym is offering a special free Krav Maga seminar, and I was hoping to take a few friends who were considering taking classes there.

2.) I will be in a meeting on the other side of D.C. all day, effectively doubling the time is will take to get to where she wants to do dinner in rush hour traffic.

3.) We could have a lot more time together Friday night because I won't have to worry about work the next day.

So some of you more experienced long-term relationship guys and married guys, what do you think? Should I plead my case, or soldier up and go tomorrow?

I think pleading your case wouldn't hurt. I'd go that route first and see if she might be understanding or even agree with your logic/reasoning. Unless you're worried she'll go apeshit for even MENTIONING the POSSIBILITY that you wouldn't be with her on her birthday.

If she's that bad you should just dump her.

Exactly. That's why I came to the scholars seeking wisdom before doing so.

But I have a Jewish girlfriend. She doesn't go apeshit, she just pouts and guilt-trips me to death.

      It's just a talking head.  Talking about gambling. If anybody takes the under on 4.5 wins, they're most likely losing their money.   So he's only saying if you want to bet on a possible sleeper, take the over.  It's not rocket science.  Pathetic that so many on the huddle have reduced themselves to posting purely trash every time they hit the submit button.

      I mean I think the best case scenario has to hit for the Panthers and everyone else in the NFCS has to hit their worst case scenario.  Personally, I think this is the year that NO finally collapses and I think they finish 4th in the division regardless.  ATL is overrated but still likely a 6-9 win team. TB plays tough football, their defense will be there but their success depends on the offense, they too are a 6-9 win team.  The Panthers are probably 4-6 wins at best. If they find some sort of momentum during the season and get 7-8 wins, and TB and ATL struggle then maybe but I find it very unlikely.

      We screwed up a couple years ago taking Bryce in the first place.  Nobody held a gun to our head to jump from #9 to #1.  Most people who keep up with draft news knew this 2024 QB class was loaded and we should have waited, which I advocated. It was a dumb move and I knew it.  Now we have to roll with Bryce another year.  That's fine, because this 2025 class isn't that great.  I like Ewers, but not super high on him.  If Bryce shows improvement, which I think he will, that should get him at least one more season before we have to decide on if he's the permanent answer or not.  I've said before, the 2026 draft is the next window for a franchise QB if Bryce isn't the answer. Bryce gets this year and next at a minimum.
