The entire defense should be embarrassed that a DT can break the tackle record.  That should never happen. Only brown and luvu have earned their salaries this year on D, maybe bell too.

What? I think you misread something.

He's close to the DT record. How is that bad? Only a defensive take can break a defensive tackle record.

Yeah I don't understand what they're saying either.  If he was making all the tackles 20 yard down field I could get his point.

Sorry, I maybe bad at reasoning this. The LBs should be making all/most of the tackles, if not them, then the safety. Its a terrible reflection on the team D if one of your DTs is about to break the NFL record for tackles. The same would if a CB was about to break the tackles record too. More simply its not the job/role for a DT to make tackles.

Dt is at the line of scrimmage in front of the lbs. If he's making the tackle 90% of them are probably within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. He isn't chasing wrs 30 yards down field

The guy closest to the snap and line of scrimmage making tackles is as good as it gets.

And he doesn't lead the team in tackles. That's Luvu then  He's approaching a record for defensive tsckles.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
