Speaking Of Rhys

Lloyd’s agent Frank Murtha said he wouldn’t rule out re-signing with Carolina, but said his client is hopeful to find a job with a new team that will allow him to expand his role to include kicking field goals and extra points. To tender Lloyd the Panthers would have had to pay Lloyd $1.1 million this season, which is clearly more than they wanted to invest in a player who fills such a small niche.

If you ask me, I'd much rather pay $1.1 for a 20-something year old power kicking specialist than pay whatever it is we're paying our almost 40 year old 25-39 yard field goal specialist.

It isn't either or. Kasay is under contract and Rhys isn't. It is spending additional money on a guy who frankly didn't look that great last year and has not shown accuracy in field goal kicking. I expect Rhys will have a hard time finding a full time job this year. It isn't as if there are many jobs in the NFL given each team has 1 kicker. He might get invited to another camp but that is a far cry from becoming the starter.

I think it's time we see what kind of salt Rhys has. It's not every day you get a kicker with a Janikowski-like leg for power.

Love Kasay, but he's in his declining years, and we can't pass up on a genuine kicking prospect purely for sentimental reasons. Will Rhys miss a few if he gets the full time job? Porbably. Probably some easy ones and moderate ones. But probably no more than the long ones Kasay will miss this year because he just doesn't have enough leg anymore.

Someone mentioned a case of the "Delhommes" in another thread. +1 to that. The only way Kasay is gone is if he retires.

Yea that was me.

Hey, here's another one for you guys. Lloyd is big friends with Matt Moore...

Hmm, could there be a link somehow in Fox not letting Lloyd kick FG's!!?

Hah, in all seriousness, I really think this is a mistake if Lloyd is allowed to walk. $1mill may be too much to pay a KO specialist, but if he could also serve as FG and PAT kicker.....

So far all he does is kick off. There are hundreds of guys who will work for peanuts who can kick the ball in the endzone. He is totally expendable and frankly last year had trouble kicking it deep when the weather got cold. He squibbed most of them in December and January.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27
    • Your intelligence is artificial.
    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
