In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?

You mean next years class doesnt have the talent that would be worth it in other words?

Worth it, you mean taking a shot at a QB in the first round?   Unless we want to take a stab a mediocre veteran in FA, then our hands are tied, so we kinda HAVE to.  The very point I'm trying to prove.  We never learn our lesson until we are out of options, good ones anyway.

I dont know what else to do if Bryce does not pan out next year either. I do like a few guys ideas of drafting a QB late every year in the 7th since 7th round odds are not great anyhow and you could find a hidden gem on a rare occasion. It doesnt overly excite me to go after a mediocre vet thinking we can fix everything either. We are definitely in a bad position if Bryce does not work out next season. Bad talent evaluations, bad trades for years and just plain bad decisions has really started to dig us deep down to the point that we have a heck of a long way to go to climb out of this hole.

Problem being Penix and Nix would be vying for QB1 in next year's class.  Ewers would be QB3.  See the tragic irony there?

Nah. Penix and Nix were already 5th year seniors this year. That was their extra covid year. They had to chance the draft if they wanted to keep playing football.

I wasn't talking about their college eligiblity, but projecting their stock versus to whom is likely to be QB1 in 2025 in Ewers.  Put like this, if Ewers was in this draft, he'd be QB6 or QB7.  Why do you think he went back to Texas?  Did he want to skim NIL money from Arch Manning or some petty thing?  Texas will likely make the playoffs, but will not win the Natty. So chasing a ring isn't the realistic reason either.

Dude knew he'd be a top pick in 2025 and be no higher than a third rounder this year.  It was a no-brainer for Ewers.

If thats true put me down for a no vote on Ewers next season unless he absolutely lights the world on fire and develops into someone who would have went first overall this year for next season.

People can project all they want, but it's way too early to say who will be the top QB in next year's draft. NIL and the transfer portal has really screwed a lot of the college landscape up. Getting a few million to play the lighter college schedule has to be a lot more tempting than getting paid the same to play in the NFL unless you're a top ten pick.

I miss a QB with a cannon for an arm. I dont mean to poo on Bryce but every time he throws I just dont see the lightning pop behind it that makes me think he can make any and all the throws especially the deep ones.

From the little I have seen from qe he has a massive massive arm.  I think the knock on him is his inaccuracy but he is really athletic as well.  I will devote more time this season to watch texas as he is intriguing

I believe dane brugler said that ewers has the best arm of any qb that he has scouted.  Said the ball makes a whistling sound coming out of his hand.  He can throw from any angle and it zips out due to natural mechanics.  But yeah he needs to work on accuracy

Its a start. Having a strong arm and athletic is definitely at least a start. I just looked him up and he is listed as 6'2 194 but only 20 years old so still has a bit more time to grow and put on some mass.

He was one of those that could skip his senior year in hs and did to enroll in osu early.   I mean he is keeping manning on the bench so he must be doing something right and believe it when I say I got sick of hearing how awesome manning was in high school

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
