Andy Reid trying to save McNabb in Philly

As the quarterback saga in Philadelphia continues, the latest report says that Eagles coach Andy Reid wants to keep Donovan McNabbb, but others in the Philadelphia front office want to trade him.

Fox 29 in Philadelphia reports that, "internally the Eagles' brass wants to move [McNabb] but Andy Reid does not."

It's not clear which members of the "Eagles' brass" want to trade McNabb, but it is clear, at least if the Fox 29 report is to be believed, that there's internal division over whether or not McNabb should be the Eagles' quarterback in 2010.

Fox 29 is also hearing, as PFT reported Thursday, that the Eagles haven't heard from the Rams yet.

for the record, I want to keep with the youth movement here.

I love McNabb. He is one of the best and most underrated QB's in history. With that being said. No TY for 3 reasons

1: This happens every year it seems. He is supposedly on the trading block and yet guess what hes still there come opening day. I once again think this is bored off-season speculation.

2: Even if he were available he is a West-Coast QB. Nuff Said

3: Even I was sure he could play in our system (which I'm not), why stunt Moore's progression by taking the one thing he needs away from him, playing time. So have a 1 or 2 year starter or take a chance on developing a young, talented, and high upside QB. No brainer to me. Not to mention Moore has been here 3 years, he knows the system (I would hope so but then again this is why many said he wasn't starting sooner), receivers, and coaches.

Can somebody explain to me exactly why they would want to get rid of McNabb?

He has run his course with the Eagles. We have a young receiver group, a young RB group, and retooling our offensive line, so why not go ahead and make the inevitable change that is going to happen after this year now and get something in return for him?

The Eagles are not going to win a champsionship with Reid and the helm and McNabb as the QB, they have had plenty of chances. Reid isn't going anywhere so.....Also, the young receivers have stated they have a great connection with Kolb both on and off the field and look forward to working with him when the chance comes. Even veteran payers have stated off the record that the have grown tired of McNabb in the locker room and on the field and would welcome a change.

Bottom line is.....I think it's just time for a chance for both the Eagles and McNabb. I just hope that if it happens, it works out well for both of them.

So Kolb is the guy who will win a Super Bowl for the Eagles? Forgive me, but I'm skeptical.

Not at all, he very well may be a bust. Not sure anyone thinks that but the end of the road his here for Mcnabb and the Eagles whether it is this year or next so why not get something for him.

I am expecting McNabb will be the starter this year which I am fine with because I am not on the get rid of Mcnabb bus like so many others. For all I know, they might even trade Kolb which would blow everyone's theories out of the water.

That makes sense. I guess I kind of misunderstood what you were saying. I do think it's a shame to so many Philly fans seem to have never appreciated McNabb though.

    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
    • This thread is dumb. But I do think canales gets too cute with play calling and I don't think he's a good coach
